FUNCTIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES (FSS) SPECIALIST   

Position Summary:

Bachelor-level candidate needed to fill a full-time, clinical position on a dynamic Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. Functional Support Specialists assist individuals in applying skills learned in therapy in the community. Specialists may see clients one to many times per week. Must possess a valid driver’s license and automobile with liability insurance in the amount required by agency policy. Basic fundamental computer experience to process e-mail and client access required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with clients to accomplish tasks (such as grocery shopping, applying for benefits, securing housing, following through with      medical treatment, etc.) through the successful use of skills (such as interpersonal, DBT, anger management, problem solving, and self-efficacy). 
  • Work closely with clinical case managers on a multidisciplinary team and display critical thinking and strong organizational abilities. 
  • Complete progress notes on all clients seen, attend treatment team meetings, supervisions, and group supervisions.

Requirements

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working with people with severe mental illness. 
  • Ability to work as an effective team player is essential. 
  • Able to work independently and build own work schedule week to week.

Education: Position requires a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, rehab counseling or education/counseling, or related field from an accredited college or university.
