Lake Cruise Tour Captain
Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is a non-profit environmental education organization founded in 1966. With a mission to advance understanding of ecology by exploring New Hampshire’s natural world, this respected community leader, located in Holderness, New Hampshire has brought visitors nearer to nature since 1966. Open meadows, mature forests, and marsh boardwalks connect interactive natural history exhibits where native animals reside: black bears, mountain lions, foxes, river otters, bobcats, and more.
New Hampshire is famous for its picturesque lakes and mountains, and Squam Lake is a gem among many. Our Lake Cruise tours provide a scenic and comfortable viewpoint of its amazingly clear water, rocky shores, celebrated islands, historic homes, scenic mountain views, and remarkable wildlife.
The Tour Captain is responsible for the delivery of informal education tours aboard the Science Center canopied pontoon boats. The main focus of these tours will be on Squam Lake itself: its natural history, human history and the wildlife that inhabits the area.
Our Tour Captains provide a narrated, memorable, and educational 90-minute boat tour of Squam Lake, aboard the Science Center’s comfortable, canopied pontoon boats. While conducting our enjoyable special charters, the Tour Captain is responsible for safely transporting passengers from their pick-up points to their destinations and returning them in a prompt and courteous manner. Tour Captains may also have responsibilities for providing education content similar in format and style to our more routine lake tours, depending on the nature of the specific charter and request.
