Do you love working with children? Would you like to work with children, while directly supporting an organization that truly makes a lasting difference in their lives of those children and their families? New Generation, a program of Catholic Charities New Hampshire, is looking for a reliable and self-motivated Child Care Worker to join our team on a part-time basis.

Many pregnant and single mothers experience homelessness due to domestic violence, financial hardship, mental health issues and substance use, among other challenges. New Generation provides comprehensive support – including a family-oriented shelter, transitional housing and aftercare services – to empower mothers with the skills, confidence and resources to build self-sufficient lives for their families.


The Child Care Worker, is responsible for creating a safe and fun environment for the young children of our residents. To be successful in this role, you need to have a love for children, understand the principles of child development, be physically fit and able to care for their basic needs, and be informed about what to do in an emergency situation.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience working in daycare or child care
  • First aid training is strongly preferred
  • A qualification in childcare, child development, or childhood education preferred
  • Knowledge of the stages of childhood development
  • Good references and a clean criminal record/background check
  • Monitor the children at all times to ensure that they play and interact with one another in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Clean interactive areas throughout the day and ensure children maintain good personal hygiene
  • Prepare meals and snacks, organize activities and develop a consistent schedule for the children
  • Keep records on the progress and interests of the children and make note of problems that may occur
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children in all respects
  • Maintain contact with staff members and parents and notify them in the case of an emergency
