School Counselor/Prevention Counselor
Second Start is a private non-profit educational corporation located in Concord, New Hampshire since 1971. Second Start offers a wide variety of programs designed to improve the economic and educational well-being of New Hampshire residents.
Our mission is to help people become more productive workers, family members and community citizens. We provide supportive, affordable and effective educational programs, including: adult basic education, job training and career counseling, education and training for at-risk youth, and child care services.
School Counselor with Drug and Alcohol Prevention Experience Preferred
This is a 40 hour per week, full-time, school year, benefit eligible position for a Counselor with Second Start’s Alternative High School. The position will be available in August 2022. This is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of at-risk youth. Candidates will be trained to implement a SAMHSA model program (Project Success), which is a highly effective, school based, substance misuse and early intervention program. Candidate must have the ability to provide crisis intervention, lead individual and group counseling sessions, implement classroom based prevention curriculum, provide parent and staff support, and provide guidance to students in relation to their school program. We are looking for a Certified School Counselor who may have LADC/LMHC/CPS certification/eligibility. Prior mental health and alcohol and drug counseling experience with youth and adolescents is strongly recommended.
