IT Clinical Applications Specialist

Job Summary:

Greater Nashua Mental Health is looking for a full-time IT Clinical Applications Specialist to join our Team! The IT Clinical Applications Specialist participates in needs assessment, planning, improving, supporting, implementing, and maintaining, the Electronic Health Record and other technology tools. The IT Clinical Applications Specialist acts as the IT Department’s point person for clinical information systems and integration of those tools into operational processes. The IT Clinical Applications Specialist works with clinical staff to identify opportunities for technology resources to improve operational performance and implementing appropriate technology tools to realize operational performance improvements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working with clinical and administrative staff to enhance the application of information technology resources, systems and applications (e.g. Electronical Medical Record / EHR / EMR) to facilitate operations.
  • Responsible for user setup, security, template/form development, reference files configuration, and communicating system operational concerns or concerns relative to system backup/disaster planning operations.
  • Establishes and maintains identified vendor relationships and acts as primary liaison for the information technology department.
  • Collaboratively Develops change requests for consideration, implements approved action plans to support enhancement requests. 
  • Collaboratively identifies, advocates for, and develops where possible appropriate controls to improve user accuracy, data integrity and system reliability. 
  • Ensures clinical applications are configured to collect data for various GNMH reporting requirements.  Monitors data validity, reliability, and accuracy, and following up as needed with clinical staff to improve data collection methods.
  • Participates in the clinical application performance reviews and related change requests, subsequent evaluation process, supporting users through process changes.
  • Collaborates with direct service and administrative staff to develop solutions resulting in efficient and functional workflows for end users.
  • Acts as project coordinator for identified projects including implementations and upgrades of designated applications. Identifies, assesses, troubleshoots technology resource (e.g. EHR) related issues through to resolution.
  • Creates and maintains documentation as directed.
  • Work collaboratively with the IT team, responsible for situational coverage of identified duties of other information technology staff.  Assists with user support requests which may include, device set ups, troubleshooting, data entry etc.
  • Performs routine duties and special projects independently while providing friendly and consistent user support.


  • 2-3 years of experience using a clinical application such as an EHR in an advanced capacity such as workflow creation, training, template creation.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, healthcare or related field is preferred.
  • Must be familiar with Information Technology systems, windows environments, desktop systems, deployment, protection, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form, to exercise initiative and work independently, to exercise sound judgment in analyzing situations and recommending appropriate course of action.
  • Strong collaborating skills, and an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
