Director of Compliance

The Director of Compliance is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of ethical behavior and conduct related to all business compliance with federal and state laws. The individual in this role will provide leadership, direction, and support in the development and implementation of the compliance auditing program for GSIL. The Director of Compliance will build a strategic and comprehensive program that defines, develops, maintains, and implements policies and processes that enable consistent and effective practices, which minimize risk.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain effectiveness with regulatory compliance program as it pertains to business activities/operations (i.e., create/revise applicable policies).
  • Measure compliance through routine and/or focused internal audits of policy/procedure adherence as well as coordinating audits generated by external sources.
  • Develop, coordinate, and participate in routine, educational and training programs focused on elements of regulatory compliance, ensuring all appropriate employees and management are knowledgeable of, and comply with, pertinent Federal and State requirements.
  • Oversee, develop, and deliver initial and ongoing training to the workforce regarding a broad spectrum of compliance related topics (e.g., Fraud and Abuse Laws, HIPAA Privacy).
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of HIPAA Privacy, Federal and State regulations, and policies as they affect GSIL through routine review of various sources.
  • Analyze government and/or public policy and alert organizational leadership to trends and risks as applicable.
  • In collaboration with the leadership team, develop and oversee a Compliance and QA Steering Committee.
  • Independently investigate and act on matters related to compliance.
  • Attend committee meetings as assigned by CEO.
  • Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • At least five (5) years of progressive, relevant compliance experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience with State and Federal Medicaid laws and regulations.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, JD) and/or HIPAA Privacy or HealthCare Compliance Certification (i.e., CHCP, CHC, etc.) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Effective leadership skills, which demonstrate the ability to participate in innovation and change, strategic thinking, and problem solving.
  • Superior communication skills in both written and verbal presentation.
  • Ability to function effectively and complete projects in timely manner in a fast-paced and changing environment with multiple priorities and objectives.

Physical /Mental Demands While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to sit, use a computer, a telephone, and other office equipment and to move throughout the building and attend outside meetings. Employee may occasionally need to exert up to ten pounds of force to lift carry, push or otherwise move objects (e.g., files or presentation materials). This position requires the ability to express or exchange ideas and to comprehend and present detailed and critical information including but not limited to financial information. Exceptional judgment and creativity are regularly required to evaluate results and make decisions.
