The Environmental Technician is responsible for safely and efficiently completing assigned activities to ensure facilities and the properties are kept neat, clean, and sanitary. Responsible for grounds maintenance and upkeep, as well as applicable cleaning for apartment turnovers.

Full time, Monday-Friday (7a-3:30p)

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements (Education/Experience/Certificates/Licenses):

  • High School Diploma or GED·
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of commercial cleaning experience
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure common areas in all buildings, including housing and offices, are maintained for cleanliness as outlined in the cleaning procedure requirements; includes vacuuming, washing floors, sweeping, dusting, wiping rails, etc.
  • Wash walls and windows in common areas in office and housing facilities.
  • Ensure outside areas of facilities are kept clean; includes picking up litter and cigarettes outside buildings, etc.
  • Sweep walkways and parking lot areas at office and housing facilities.
  • Complete all snow removal and clean-up; ensure walkways, stairs, and parking areas are shoveled and plowed. Salt and sand stairs and walkways as necessary.
  • Maintain garbage areas at housing facilities to ensure trash is contained, and not scattered, escalating any oversized items to the manager.
  • Clean laundry rooms at facilities at a minimum every week (includes washing floor, washing the exterior and within the lid of washing machines, the exterior of the dryer, empty garbage).
  • Ensure light bulbs in hallways, fire/smoke detectors, emergency lighting, and fire extinguishers are all operating and proactively address issues or escalate to replace/fix as necessary.
  • Ensure all offices/administrative buildings are clean; including vacuuming of individual offices and common areas as needed (minimum weekly, 2-3 times during winter months), washing floors, and cleaning bathroom in its entirety.
  • Remove trash from common areas, kitchens, and individual offices twice a week.
  • Responsible for safety and upkeep of company vehicles, including cleanliness, registration, and washing.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning and property maintenance supplies.
  • Ensure timely and thorough cleaning of apartments at the time of turnover. Following standard procedures required for apartment turnover. Ensure all items and tasks are completed in preparation for move-in.
  • Opening and closing of facilities by disabling and enabling facility security alarm systems
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols
  • Demonstrate a positive, enthusiastic, and motivating presence at all times.
  • Participate in in-service training.
  • Maintain and promote professionalism, in accordance with the Families In Transition’s Employee handbook.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Assistant Facilities Manager and/or Facilities/Project Manager
  • Uphold and promote Families in Transition’s mission.
