Community Action Partnership of Strafford County is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. We work with community, state and federal partners to assist children, families, low-income and elderly residents with their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent through a variety of coordinated programs. Without the services provided by our agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs, including food, education, child care, utilities assistance, transportation, shelter and access to other services.

General Description

As the Advancement Associate, you will be responsible for assisting the Chief Advancement Officer in implementing and managing a comprehensive multi-channel fundraising program that supports the philanthropic priorities of CAPSC. This position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, exceptional attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to prioritize as well as manage multiple projects at the same time.

Education and/or Experience

Associate degree or higher in related field, such as Fundraising, Marketing, PR, Sales, Event Planning and Communication, or at least 3 years of relevant experience. Team-oriented and flexible style combined with the ability and desire to achieve a high level of productivity and success.

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Donor Database: Manage donor database including gift entry, gift acknowledgement, weekly and monthly reporting, and reconciliation with accounting.
  • Appeals and Mailings: Assist with planning, creating, and mailing of solicitation for annual giving that integrate with other fundraising campaigns and the overall communications plan. Work with the Chief Advancement Officer to achieve annual solicitation goals and metrics of direct marketing projects.
  • Special Events: Assist with targeted cultivation, stewardship, and special fundraising events for a variety of CAPSC constituents. Assist or lead agency special events, including planning and managing logistics, and serving as agency point person.
  • Communications: Assist with website, social media, print and online newsletters, annual reports, and other communication tools. Serve as agency representative in the community at various events/meetings.
  • Department Support: Provide administrative support for the Advancement Team, which includes the Chief Advancement Officer, Marketing and Communications Manager, and Advancement Associate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities but works closely with supervisor and peers.

General Expectations

  • Respects confidentiality of information about agency staff and clients, personnel issues, and other program operations.  Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Must be deadline-driven and possess a strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with donor databases. Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Must have high-level of computer knowledge and skill, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher (or InDesign) as well as email marketing and social media tools.
  • Ability to plan, assign, coordinate, organize, and prioritize work.
  • Models direct, positive, honest, and respectful behavior in every aspect of work with children, families, staff, and community members.
  • Applies the highest ethical standards to themselves and others on a daily basis.
  • Actively participates in teambuilding, which includes sharing ideas and mutual support of team members. 
  • Consistently uses interpersonal skills that are appropriate for individual styles, personalities, cultures, the nature of the work, and the environment in which the work is being done.

Employment Screening
