Cooking Matters Program Assistant - NH Food Bank

The New Hampshire Food Bank is currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Cooking Matters Program Assistant. The Cooking Matters Assistant assumes responsibility for assisting the Cooking Matters Coordinator and Nutrition Program Manager. Responsibilities include the coordination of Cooking Matters programming with community organizations, recruitment and management of volunteers, reporting outcomes to NHFB, and providing outreach to partner agencies.

· Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university 

· Major study or continued education, human services, diet and nutrition or related fields preferred

· 2 years of experience with special events planning, community relations, volunteer management and training preferred

· Ability to manage volunteers and work independently and with diverse populations; including chefs, nutritionists, social workers, donors and low-income persons

· Intermediate to advanced knowledge of computers and various software packages, including, but not limited to MS Office and Adobe

· Ability for some night and weekend work

· Excellent written and verbal communications skills and an attention to detail


· Work with Cooking Matters Program Coordinator to manage the Cooking Matters statewide program

· Set competitive annual goals and work to motivate staff and partners to reach individual projections

· Help project the number and types of classes to be taught in upcoming fiscal year

· Work with Cooking Matters Program Coordinator on strategic vision and implementation for Cooking Matters NH

· Identify, recruit, onboard and maintain management of new Cooking Matters satellite partners. 

· Assist with the management of the CM Volunteer program

· Reinforce relationships with active volunteers and maintain enough trained instructors to have two for each series offered

· Provide initial volunteer orientation and curriculum trainings.

· Manage volunteer database and files

· Perform assigned administrative, fundraising and marketing functions.

· Assist with fundraising activities and events which support Cooking Matters including grant writing and reporting

· Assist Program Coordinator with writing articles for local print, in-house and community newsletters

· Promote NH Food Bank through public relations, use of media, presentations to school and community groups and participation in food shows and fund-raising events
