Lawyer Referral Service Intake and Referral Specialist

The NH Bar Association (NHBA) is a statewide professional association that supports members of the legal profession and their service to the public and justice system. In addition to providing an array of services and benefits to its members, the NH Bar Association facilitates open and continuing dialogue among lawyers, the courts and other justice system stakeholders while acting as a resource for all those interested in advancing a just society.   NHBA administers NH Supreme Court Rule 53, NH Minimum Continuing Legal Education Requirement which requires active members of the NH Bar Association to participate in additional legal study throughout their careers.  The NH Bar Association also works to increase access to justice in New Hampshire through its Lawyer Referral and Law Related Education programs, as well as through its support of  NHBA’s charitable arm, the NH Bar Foundation.

The Lawyer Referral Service Intake and Referral Specialist provides client intake and attorney referral for NHBA’s Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) call center, as well as clerical and other tasks supporting the Full-Fee and Modest Means programs. At least 66% of time is spent on phone receiving referral requests. Provide administrative support for Free Legal Answers-NH and LawLine programs. This position is 100% in-office and only local candidates will be considered.


Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. 


Direct communication with people seeking referrals and legal assistance

  • Answer telephone calls from public; retrieve and respond to voicemails     
  • Review and respond in a timely and helpful manner to e-mails and mail


Direct communication with panelist attorneys

  • Ensure that panelists have adequate liability insurance
  • Assist LRS Coordinator with LRS panel renewal billing
  • Follow-up on deferred cases 
  • Communicate survey results/feedback as appropriate.


Collarboration with other NHBA staff

  • Distribute semi-monthly client surveys; analyze results
  • Assist in creation of marketing and promotional materials
  • Attend department and company-wide meetings


Miscellaneous administrative work

  • Prepare LRS reports                          
  • Filing/clerical/proofreading/scanning work as required                                                
  • Assist with newsletter to LRS panelist attorneys      


Fluency in Spanish a plus.
