Harbor Care, formerly known as Harbor Homes and the Partnership for Successful Living affiliates, is an innovative health and human services non-profit organization that provides housing, healthcare, home health, behavioral health, addiction treatment, and more in collaboration with many community partners.  Harbor Care is the new shared name of Harbor Homes, Keystone Hall, Healthy at Home, the Harbor Care Health and Wellness Center, and the Southern NH HIV/AIDS Task Force. We offer many programs specifically focused on our Military Veteran and homeless populations.  Harbor Care integrates stable housing with vital supports such as: primary, dental, and mental health care, substance misuse treatment, employment services, and other wraparound supports proven to end homelessness, help change and save lives.


 

Department:        Primary Care/Harbor Care Health & Wellness Center

Reports to:           Dentist

Pay Status:           Full Time

Schedule:             Monday through Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Will be required to work occasional evenings and Saturdays.

About the Harbor Care Health and Wellness Center:

Harbor Care Health and Wellness Center offers primary, preventive medical services, behavioral health services, and dental services to children and adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, uninsured, under-insured, or low income.   Harbor Care offers a sliding scale fee for self-pay patients, and accepts Medicaid, Medicare, as well as most commercial insurances. The Southern NH HIV/AIDS Task Force has a long history of providing culturally sensitive support services to low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS. With medical case management at the heart of our program, each client is assisted in creating a service plan with action steps leading to viral suppression while meeting their other basic needs.

 

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Dental Director, provides administrative and clinical support. Responsible for maintaining quality assurance for clinic practices and patient records in compliance. Facilitates the daily operations of the Dental Clinic by coordinating patient care, maintaining supplies, equipment, inventory and handling hazardous materials, scheduling, treatment plan presentation. Troubleshooting software issues and following up with external and internal referrals and integrating care with other departments.

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills,
  • Ability to work well with others or alone, under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and strict deadlines.
  • Strong computer experience required
  • Proficient MS Office
  • Valid CPR Certification

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current BLS CPR Certification.
  • Radiology certification
  • One year of experience in a Dental Clinic environment.
  • Dental software or Open Dental experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment room, patient, instruments, and materials.
  • Performs procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act.
  • Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Readies patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
  • Provides information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests.
  • Assembles instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area, positioning instruments for dentist's access, suctioning, and passing instruments.
  • Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
  • Provides diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies and pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
  • Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply
  • Educates patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.
  • Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Ensures operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions,
  • calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Be aware of and adhere to all HIPPA rules and regulations and must be an active participant in safety measures for ensuring confidentiality of information as it relates to clients/employees and this Agency.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to listen, communicate (written and verbal), excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills and follow-up effectively with all staffing levels and clients/customers.
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter and energetic.
  • Ability to function in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to adhere to tight deadlines.

 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Work is performed in a fully functioning dental clinic. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment is routinely required. Physical exertion includes standing, carrying equipment and supplies, reaching overhead, and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional travel to offsite locations requires the ability to drive and use of a private vehicle.
