Human Resources Generalist

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire provides early child care, afterschool programs, summer day camps and basketball leagues to youth throughout the central New Hampshire area including Concord and Laconia areas. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who most need us, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.  We offer a safe place to belong, caring adult mentors and programs covering everything from academics and leadership development to physical fitness and healthy habits.

This is a new position, directly reporting to the Human Resources Director. The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing human resources-related duties on a professional level. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, and employment law compliance. 

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • Must have at least three years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources management and possess data management skills.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting Human Resources management.
  • Scrupulous attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Must communicate well with the Executive Board, HR team, management, staff as well as the public.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and be flexible.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be willing to travel between locations when requested. (Only occasional travel may be required.)
  • All of the candidates that are offered a job with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire will have to submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and submit to a background check through the State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and FirstAdvantage. Note: The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit you from being employed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire should there be a disqualifying finding on your criminal record. In addition, even if the State of NH reviews your records and allows you to work at the Club, we still reserve the right to determine your employment status.
  • Administers various Human Resource plans and procedures for all personnel; assists the HR Director in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the organizational manuals.
  • Identifies and brings up opportunities to improve policies, procedures, and programs to ensure they meet Club's needs.
  • Maintains employee personnel files, and periodically audits personnel files with the HR assistant.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees, volunteers; conducts new-employee orientations and writes and places advertisements.
  • Serves in the role of a Volunteer Coordinator; conducts volunteer orientations and introduces volunteers to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central NH policies and practices. Ensures that all of the required documentation is complete.
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Monitors to ensure that employee performance evaluations are done in a timely manner.
  • Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees and processes enrollment, cancellation, or changes. Maintains and distributes a list of new and canceled employees under each benefit plan.
  • Administers COBRA for group health plans.
  • May assist with processing leaves of absences and ensures compliance with the Family Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA). Notifies employees of their rights and obligations under FMLA; maintains record-keeping for FMLA.
  • Reports, maintains, and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows up on open cases. Ensures that all claims are filed within 72 hours.
  • Completes unemployment requests and other employment verifications in a timely manner.
  • Ensures a healthy and safe environment in compliance with all OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures that the Club's bus drivers are tested in accordance with DOT regulations for drug and alcohol use.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Enters new employee info into the payroll system, makes payroll employee changes to taxes, accruals, addresses, etc. 
  • Assists with the transition and implementation of an HRIS system.
  • Communicates with Finance Director regularly about new hires and payroll changes/updates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Exempt, salaried position. We are temporarily offering a sign-on bonus of $500.00.
