Job Summary:

Greater Nashua Mental Health (GNMH) is looking for a full-time Medical Records & Quality Coordinator to join our team! The Medical Records & Quality Coordinator supervises the Medical Records department by educating, mentoring and training Associates and Senior Associates on current happenings within the field of Health Information.  The Medical Records & Quality Coordinator ensures client health information is complete, confidential, and safeguarded. This position also supports the Quality & Compliance Department in the monitoring of the agency’s performance improvement activities, quality improvement initiatives, compliance practices. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supervises the Medical Records Associates and Senior Associates in the day-to-day functions of the department.
• Reviews health information and works with clinical staff to ensure records contain appropriate and required documentation.
• Assists GNMH clinical staff with release of information inquiries.
• Organizes and conducts monthly peer chart internal record reviews to ensure clinical documentation meets compliance and quality standards.
• Prepares and tracks medical records for internal and/or external quarterly insurance audits with managed care organizations such as Beacon Health and New Hampshire Healthy Families.
• Fields client complaints.
• Reviews client charts due to be closed and for deficiencies and reports information to appropriate staff within the agency.
• Assists in the monitoring and reporting of agency’s performance improvement committees and/or initiatives.
• Coordinates Agency Sentinel Event Reviews.
• Coordinates and Participate in Quality Assurance and Technical Assistance activities with Managed Care organizations including chart audits and case rounding.


• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• 3-5 years of related work experience
• Knowledge of medical records systems and experience with electronic health records.
• Fully understanding of HIPAA regulations, client’s rights and confidentiality.
• Ability to lead and guide staff.  Flexible, willing to learn, and anticipates the needs of self and staff.
• Strong collaborating skills, and an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask, and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments.
• Ability to problem solve and exercise judgment.
