Director of Grants and Compliance

Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented individual to serve as our Director of Grants and Compliance.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Grants and Compliance will be responsible for serving as the subject matter expert on the organizations federal, state and local government grant contracts. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in or related work experience.
  • 3 years of grant writing/grant compliance experience, preferred, to include grant proposal submission, pre-award process and post-award administration/compliance experience preferred.
  • Organized, self-starter with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Strong overall attention to detail is required.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare federal, state and local applications for new and renewal funding as well as establishing an annual schedule to ensure that all RFP’s are responded to on a timely basis.
  • Prepare national foundation proposals for programs/projects that are new and/or innovative
  • Monitor federal, state, local and private national grant opportunities to identify new funding for new or existing programs
  • Keep updated on new and existing evidence-based practices within the homeless services area
  • Prepare all required reports for federal, state and local funders
  • Work in concert with other Directors and /or Program Managers to ensure files are prepared for random and scheduled audits
  • Ensure compliance requirements from funders are met by working closely with departments by advising management and staff on policies and procedures that pertain to all aspects of the grants and to ensure data accuracy for grant reports
  • Review policies and recommend changes as needed to maintain compliance with granting agencies requirements.
  • Oversee the Database Manager.
  • Participate in state or local meetings for Balance of State & Manchester Continuum of Care general assembly meetings and committee meetings as appropriate
  • Demonstrate a positive, enthusiastic and motivating presence at all times.
  • Participate in in-service training.
  • Maintain and promote professionalism, in accordance with the Families in Transition Employee Handbook
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
  • Uphold and promote Families in Transition mission.
