Community Action Partnership of Strafford County (CAPSC) located in Dover, New Hampshire, is hiring a Coach for the Early Head Start Child Care Partnership Program.

Overview of Position

This is an existing role that is under the direction of the EHS-CCP Manager, provides coaching support and follow-up for EHS-CCP infant and toddler classroom staff. Ensures that teachers are getting the direction and support needed to successfully provide inclusive, developmentally appropriate, rich learning experiences that support school readiness for infants and toddlers. Assists partnering programs in implementation and maintenance of Early Head Start Performance Standards. Preferred experience in Practice Based Coaching or working with adults. Ideal candidate would have child development and assessment experience with infant and toddlers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive, supportive relationships with EHS-CCP infant-toddler classroom staff.
  • Achieve and maintain reliability in teaching practices assessment tool specific to infant/toddler
  • Develop a schedule for conducting classroom observations as a foundation for determining needs.
  • Engage in Practice-based coaching to develop individual coaching plans, with specific goals and areas for growth identified which are based on classroom/teacher observations and in consultation with their direct supervisors
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to teaching staff for learning and growth. This may include modeling, activities, reading material, or other resources as needed to guide learning.
  • Orient new teaching staff around Early Head Start Standards and other aspects of the position pertaining to meeting the expectations of the EHS-CCP. Provide any needed support as they work to understand and meet the requirements of their position.
  • Plan and present small group workshops on relevant child development topics.
  • Promote best practices in early childhood development and assessment based on Early Head Start Performance Standards, Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers and Twos, State Childcare Licensing Guidelines, and other prescribed curricula used by the EHS-CCP.
  • Use reflective practice and additional strategies as needed to promote positive outcomes for the teaching staff and the children they work with.
  • Provide support to classrooms in use of TSG as needed, including lesson planning and assessment.
  • Monitor TSG entries for EHS-CCP caseloads. Generate reports as requested.
  • Travel as needed between EHS-CCP sites.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor’s degree in a related field with three (3) years’ experience teaching young children, preferably infants and toddlers.
  • Intermediate computer literacy including: database management (TSG, Child Plus) and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are a must. Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing needs and priorities is also required for this position.
  • Expectation that successful candidate will attend training and become reliable in designated teaching practices assessment tool on a schedule developed in collaboration with the EHS-CCP Manager.
  • Expectation that successful candidate will attend training and become proficient in Practice-based Coaching on a schedule developed in collaboration with the EHS-CCP Manager.
  • Expectation that successful candidate will attend Program for Infant-Toddler Care training (2wks. travel off-site)

Preferred:

  • • Previous Early Head Start or Head Start experience. Experience in practice-based coaching or other work with adult learners.

Additional Information

Full time 40 hour year round position.

Employment Screening

Valid Driver's License and insured vehicle (100/300 minimum coverage) for use on the job or acceptable alternative, driving record check, criminal record check, randomized drug screening.

Head Start, Early Head Start, Childcare, and Home Visiting Programs are also subject to the following: Head Start and childcare licensing requires a criminal record check and finger printing to be completed prior to employment. An initial physical examination record must be obtained within 60 days of hire, updated every three years and kept on file with Human Resources. An initial driving record check will be conducted. License information will also be submitted to the agency’s automobile insurance carrier.
