Support Staff will provide direct support, oversight and interventions at the Families in Transition supportive housing properties. Great entry level positions for candidates interested in Human Services.  Responsibilities include: Completing rounds of assigned properties, supervision of assigned property, providing recovery based supports to participants, video camera observation, inspecting rooms/common areas, encouraging community building and maintaining shelter stay, providing consistent staff presence for families to access support, addressing conflict or concerns, awareness for building safety, etc. and general kitchen duties.   

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Flexible work schedule.
  • Works well independently
  • Good conflict resolution and crisis management skills

  • While performing the duties of this job, this employee will occasionally work in high, precarious places, be around fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and may receive donations that may have harmful items included, to include, but not limited to, sharps (needles, syringes etc...), weapons and drugs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The Employee will at times be performing repetitive motions. The employee is occasionally required to sit; regularly climb or balance; and frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of building activities
  • Ensure safety of participants and property by checking common areas, surrounding property and each floor
  • Communicate with incoming and outgoing staff of pending issues or activities that have occurred using communication log as well as emergency personnel as needed
  • Interact with participants in a professional manner; respond to needs of participants as appropriate
  • Provide transportation to other Families in Transition properties for purposes of access to meals, social activities or other necessary meetings
  • Assist in conflict resolution between participants and oversight of compliance with program expectations
  • Answer crisis line and address calls as appropriate
  • Respond to outside agency/business communications as appropriate
  • Janitorial and kitchen duties as assigned as well as oversight of participant cleaning responsibilities, exterior and interior
  •  Maintaining building cleanliness at all times
  • Kitchen assistance including but not limited to maintaining logs, serving and portioning food, stocking, dishes, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness
  • Daily food and kitchen supply orders
  • Order building supplies
  • Assist in organization of program supplies
  • Other office duties and data entry as needed
  • Organization of participant monitors
  • Provide recovery supports to residents
  • Video camera observation
  • Facilitate community building activities and interact with residents in order to build community

 

Other:

  • Demonstrate a positive, enthusiastic and motivating presence at all times.
  • Participate in in-service training.
  • Maintain and promote professionalism, in accordance with the Families In Transition Employee handbook
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Program Manager
  • Uphold and promote Families in Transition mission.
