Emergency Services Coordinator

Lakes Region Mental Health Center

Lakes Region Mental Health Center (LRMHC) is the community mental health center serving Belknap and southern Grafton Counties. We provide services to 24 surrounding towns, and nearly 4,000 patients each year. A non-profit, private corporation founded in 1966, Lakes Region Mental Health Center is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors dedicated to our mission.  We provide integrated mental and physical health care to children, adults, elders and their families who are living with – and recovering from- mental illness and/or emotional distress. Our dedicated professionals provide the highest quality of healthcare and collaborate with many other organizations in the region to improve access to care and meet the mental health needs of the community. By working in partnership with other health care providers, hospitals, law enforcement, corrections, courts, school districts, social workers and public health officials, we are able to provide a continuum of care for our patients and improve the quality of life in the Lakes Region.

To assist the Director in facilitating and organizing the provision of emergency services.  Participates on Management Team around operation of the agency.


The individual must possess the knowledge, skills and ability noted below or be able to explain and demonstrate how they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some combination of skills and abilities.  Must also possess the necessary physical capacities, with or without the aid of mechanical devices or other forms of accommodation, to safely perform the primary functions of the job.

1.Working knowledge of diagnosis, treatment planning, medications, counseling and crisis
    intervention techniques.
2.Must be able to establish a rapport with the patients.  Must treat all patients with dignity and respect.
3.Ability to organize work-load so that his/her clinical and administrative duties are completed in a timely and thorough manner without the need for direct supervision.
4.Understands the LRMHC mission and applies this knowledge productively to shape internal policies and external contacts.
5.Must be capable of working closely with other agency staff to expand the knowledge of mental health services both within the ES Team and across to other programs.  Must be able to develop strong working relationships with external services.
6.Must have basic computer skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
7.Must have the ability to read and analyze data and reports.
8.Must be able to tolerate periods of heavy workload, to include long working hours and the balancing of conflicting demands


Education:  Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other approved credentials as specified in He-M426-11 and He-M426-13.

Experience:  1 to 2 years’ experience preferred.

License/Certifications:  State licensure preferred.  Must be license eligible in NH.  Must meet credentialing criteria for hospitals served by LRMHC.  Valid NH driver’s license.  Able to pass LRMHC criminal records and motor vehicle screening.   Must maintain personal auto insurance at a level commensurate with agency requirements.

Work Schedule:



Under the direction of the Director of Emergency Services, and within the center’s program policies and procedures, performs the following functions:


Essential Functions:
1.Meets with ES Staff at the direction of the Director to review/problem solve around issues pertinent to ES
2.Assists in development and preparation of data reports for Emergency Services with the assistance of the IT department and assists with Quality Assurance and Utilization Review functions.
3.Provides liaison and consultation services to hospital emergency rooms, law enforcement and other identified stakeholders and represents the program and agency effectively in meetings and presentations within and outside the agency.
4.Provides intervention services to clients as appropriate and provides back up for emergency services coverage.
5.Maintains necessary credentialing for privileges at all hospitals as required for performing ES responsibilities.
6.Participates in recruiting, hiring, performance reviews and termination of employees in ES in partnership with the Director and promotes team cooperation and integration as it relates to effective team functioning and stimulates team growth and effective communication among staff.  Monitors staff morale and addresses as needed
7.Provide rotating on-call support for clinicians for nights and weekends in conjunction with the Director.
8.Assists in administrative and procedural functions to include development and management of ES training manual and resource guides.
9.Provides training of staff as requested by Director.
10.Obtains any required insurance pre-certs and provides clinical information to insurance companies and other payers as necessary and provides direction to ES Case Managers with regards to same.
11.Is responsible for keeping Director informed of pertinent issues.
12.May perform other related job duties as assigned.
13.Attendance is a requirement of this position.
