School Age Program Site Director

Community Action Partnership of Strafford County is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. We work with community, state and federal partners to assist children, families, low-income and elderly residents with their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent through a variety of coordinated programs. Without the services provided by our agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs, including food, education, child care, utilities assistance, transportation, shelter and access to other services.

General Description

Provide a daily schedule of developmentally appropriate activities school age children. The School Age Site Director is responsible for the overall classroom management and health and safety of children in a childcare setting.

Education and/or Experience

  • Per NH Child Care Licensing requirements, must be at least 20 years of age
  • High School Diploma with one of the following:
  • Minimum of 1,000 documented hours experience working with children in a licensed childcare program OR
  • College courses totaling 12 credits in early childhood education, including three credits in human growth and development.
  • Interest and desire to interact and work with young children and adults.
  • Prior experience working with school age children preferred and the commitment to continue training.
  • Comfortable with use of computer programs including Microsoft Office.
  • Current or able to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Duties and/or Responsibilities

  • Greet parents at arrival and departure times.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of all children in your classroom at all times.
  • Supervise school age room volunteers and teachers.
  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate activity-based curriculum for the school age children.
  • Provide an atmosphere which encourages the children to participate and become self-reliant and creative.
  • Provide an environment that is organized, clean, safe, stimulating, and child centered.
  • Maintain regular contact with the Center Director, meeting at least weekly to provide an update on program issues and activities.
  • Keep accurate staff sign in sheets for the school age room.
  • Maintain accurate children’s attendance sheets and meal count sheets. Turn completed sheets into the Center office at the end of each week.
  • Keep parents up to date on all program schedules and events. Prepare and distribute a monthly newsletter. Maintain a parent information board with posted daily schedule and weekly menu.
  • Work cooperatively with the program staff as part of the Farmington Children’s Center Team.
  • Keep classroom first aid kit filled with all necessary supplies.
  • Remain current with the NH State Licensing Manual, following all licensing rules and requirements.
  • Coordinate program field trips with Center Director.
  • Maintain inventory of classroom supplies
  • Participate in Center Open Houses and fund-raising activities.
  • Implement monthly emergency practice drills.
  • Attend monthly Building Meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Help to orient and train volunteers.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Report any problems to the Center Director.
  • Maintain and model good hygiene, appropriate dress (neat, clean and modest), and professional behavior to parents, staff and the community.
  • Maintain a positive and productive attitude regarding the Center and the CAP Agency when interacting both within the program and with the greater community.
  • Following Covid-19 state protocol and guidance with all students and individually.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel when necessary.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the unique challenges faced by families living in poverty.
  • Reliable source of transportation with 100/300 liability insurance coverage.
  • Physical strength/endurance/mobility to perform in a standard daily required work routine (i.e. walking, sitting, lifting, and driving to various sites as required).

Communication Skills

  • Be able to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and families on a regular basis.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate instructions.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Childcare teachers in classroom
