Future In Sight, established as the New Hampshire Association for the Blind in 1912, is the only statewide nonprofit that provides specialized services and support that meet the range of needs that individuals of all ages and stages of vision loss experience at home, at school, and in the community – including via online learning and telehealth channels. 

In a highly visual world, having a visual impairment can have a far-reaching effect on all aspects of life. From a child’s early development, teens’ preparation for the workforce, adults’ career adaptations, to seniors’ safety, independence, and mental health, building connections, accessing training and support are all critical drivers of overall health and well-being.  Both our Youth Services and Adult Services teams address the holistic needs of the person served

If you are a highly skilled professional, who has 7+ years of experience as a certified Teacher of Students with Vision Impairments (TVI), we have an opportunity for you to join us as the TVI Team Leader.  This newly created position of TVI Team Leader will allow you to use your well-honed teaching skills along with your desire to mentor and inspire colleagues.  The TVI Team Leader will have the skills, knowledge, and expertise to serve students who require vision services to access their education.


Whether working with our youngest in early intervention, school age students, or nearing-adults who need a great secondary transition, the opportunity to influence successful outcomes is wide-ranging.  Often the students we serve have a disability in addition to blindness or low vision. If your teaching experience includes working with students with cortical vision impairment, or vision and hearing impairments, or vision and an autistic spectrum disorder, or vision and multiple disabilities, you can make a tremendous impact here.  Your expertise in completing comprehensive student needs’ evaluations and using assistive technology will make an immediate impact on our team and the students we serve. 

The Job:

Our TVIs are itinerant, and provide in-person and/or live, on-line services.  Our TVIs teach a diverse group of learners with visual impairment understand the unique functional and educational needs of these learners with visual impairment and act as a liaison with community services.  We use evidence-based tools and partner in close collaboration with nearby institutions of higher education who are conducting the latest research in the field to assess, evaluate, serve and monitor our students with the most research-based services offered.  Empathy, collaboration, partnership and appropriately high expectations for learners are our hallmarks.

The successful applicant will be a collaborative leader who provides direct services for students with vision impairments and co-occurring disabilities, and offer professional expertise to our team of TVIs.  Together with the Director of Youth Services, the TVI Team Leader will offer professional development opportunities, mentor new teachers, and oversee interns to build a culture of continuous learning and success.  The TVI Team Leader will also coordinate our Extended School Year services, working a 48 week schedule. 

  • State certification as a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired
  • Special Education experience with a commitment to the mission of Future In Sight
  • Values details, communication and independent implementation of expectations
  • Eight or more years of professional experience in the field of Vision services.
  • Ability to travel for in-person services and/or to create, present and evaluate live, engaging, on-line vision services from anywhere
