Workplace Success Program Specialist
Southern New Hampshire Services (SNHS) is a private non-profit organization dedicated to helping people help themselves since 1965. Services are provided to Hillsborough and Rockingham counties and the agency employs over 450 employees.
Southern NH Services, Inc. is seeking a dynamic Program Specialist to provide job search assistance, job readiness instruction, embedded training, and basic vocational skills through group and individualized instruction for TANF public assistance recipients in the NH Employment Program’s (NHEP) Workplace Success (WPS) Program. The WPS Program Specialist will also develop and coordinate Work Experience and On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunities for participants with area for-profit and non-profit employers consistent with the job goals in their individual Career Plans. The position is 37.5 hours/week and will provide substitute coverage and/or staff support in some of our WPS Career Centers statewide. Duties include vocational assessment & career planning; case conferencing with local NHEP Counselor Teams; developing & coordinating appropriate unpaid work experience and paid OJT opportunities in the labor market to acquire new job skills; and teaching essential work skills in a busy learning environment. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration, or other relevant discipline. Two (2) years of work experience in counseling, teaching, social services or business involving career counseling, employee development, social work or human resources; experience working with low income families or individuals with job barriers; knowledge of area businesses, community organizations, & economy; ability to engage local employers & community-based organizations in providing Internship and job opportunities for adult job seekers; knowledge of principles & methods of vocational assessment; experience delivering group training & workshops; ability to energize & motivate adult job seekers; solid verbal & written communication; skilled in Internet, e-mail, MS-WORD, EXCEL, &/or other software. Based in Manchester NH. Reliable transportation required.
