Transit Dispatcher

(SCS) is one of five community action agencies throughout New Hampshire, and part of the larger network of 70 agencies in New England and nearly 900 agencies nationwide. We have been serving the needs of our citizens since 1965 when President Lyndon Johnson waged his “War on Poverty.” Over the years our programs have evolved and expanded to keep pace with the constantly changing needs of our citizens. We strive to stay in touch with the real needs of the people and find or develop programs that will best serve those needs. This position is a safety-sensitive position requiring the scheduling and overall coordination of transit services to ensure the timely and safe transportation of all passengers. Performance of these duties must be conducted in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Local, Department of Transportation system regulations and policies. Including, but not limited to, US Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations.

Requirements:
  • Must possess and maintain a good driving record
  • Experience with the public a plus
Responsibilities:
  • Answers incoming calls promptly, gathers comprehensive information, and communicates information to the appropriate individual using a telephone, email, or alternate methods in order to facilitate timely pickup and drop-off of passengers
  • Dispatches/communicates information to drivers, as needed using a two-way radio system or alternate methods, as necessary, in order to facilitate the timely pick-up and drop-off of passengers.
  • Provides schedule/route information and directions to drivers, as necessary
  • Communicates with drivers and other individuals, as appropriate, to facilitate assistance as needed for emergency personnel, or vehicle maintenance issues
