Access to Care Adult Intake Clinician

Summary Statement

This position will perform thorough clinical assessments and evaluations for adults who present with mental health, behavioral health and/or substance use issues. This position is instrumental in orienting and educating clients and their families to Center for Life Management services and facilitating their engagement in such services. This position is part of the Adult Clinical team working 25-hour work week out of the Derry location.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Two (2) years’ experience in a clinical setting working with a variety of populations;
  • Must have excellent diagnostic and treatment planning skills including substance use evaluation experience;
  • Knowledge of social service systems, community resources, legal systems, and child welfare systems;
  • Maintain compliance with required trainings and education required for the position;
  • Successfully acquire and maintain ANSA and/or CANS certification(s), per position requirements;
  • Maintain CEU expectations for licensure;
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle client service situations appropriately;
  • Ability to problem solve and take-action as necessary;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, with emphasis on Word and Excel;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands while being detail oriented.

Education and License

Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other mental health related field ​or​ a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The majority of the work takes place in an office setting; manual dexterity is needed to use computers and standard office equipment.  The ability to sit for extended periods of time is required. 


Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties

  • Conduct initial clinical evaluations for all populations
  • Formulation of clinical diagnoses
  • Coordinate/engage clients to develop a person-centered treatment plan for services
  • Provide outreach and follow-up services to potential and existing clients
  • Utilize identified assessment instruments/tools
  • Educate clients, family members and community providers on mental health and addiction issues
  • Participate in appropriate team and/or administrative meetings, assigned committees, in-services, and other continuing education/training
  • Provide individual, family and group services periodically as needed
  • Arrange referrals to external treatment domains or agencies, as needed
  • Performs functions professionally and in a manner that protects the integrity, confidentiality, and rights of all clients;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
