TMS Coordinator - Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Summary Statement

Center for Life Management strives to provide innovative treatment options for patients with major mental illness. As such, CLM offers NeuroStar Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive procedure that uses electromagnetic therapy to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to treat depression.

The TMS Coordinator will administer in-office TMS therapy under the direction and supervision of our treating physician. This individual will be trained in the administration of TMS, interact regularly with patients, and manage the administrative tasks of this clinical service. This is a 30 hour per week position at our Derry branch.


Qualifications and Skills

  • An Associate or Bachelor’s degree is desired;
  • Prior experience within a clinical treatment setting working closely with patients is preferred;
  • Ability to shift between patient-centered activities and administrative responsibilities throughout the work day is essential;
  • Maintenance of current professional certifications required to perform TMS services;
  • Ability to be self-directed and motivated with minimal direct supervision;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and their families;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collegially with other professionals across disciplines, inside and outside of the agency;
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment in routine, urgent, and emergent clinical situations;
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply practice standards, technical procedures, and government standards and regulations;
  • Ability to acquire and effectively practice new clinical skills as needed according to evolving agency needs/services;
  • Ability to document effectively and efficiently in course of clinical work, and to navigate an electronic health record. 

 Physical Demands and Working Conditions

All of the work takes place in an office setting; manual dexterity is required to operate TMS equipment; manual dexterity is needed to use computers and standard office equipment.  The ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time is required. 


Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties

  • Provide Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) services, including preparation for and administration of TMS treatments under the supervision of a TMS-certified Physician; 
  • Follow TMS treatment protocols;
  • Complete administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to, screening patients interested in TMS, assisting with prior authorization and appeal process for insurance companies, participate in marketing activities for TMS and organization, and scheduling TMS treatments;
  • Execute all required services and documentation in accordance with agency policies and federal/state standards;
  • Assist psychiatrist in ongoing face-to-face assessments of TMS patients during the course of treatment;
  • Perform electronic health record documentation on all treatment related matters, communications and face-to-face encounters in accordance with agency policies and federal/state standards;
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by supervisor.
