NHEP Education and Credential Specialist

Southern New Hampshire Services (SNHS) is a private non-profit organization dedicated to helping people help themselves since 1965. Services are provided to Hillsborough and Rockingham counties and the agency employs over 450 employees.

Southern NH Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified Education and Credential Specialist who can assist staff and TANF public assistance recipients within the New Hampshire Employment Program (NHEP) by identifying and accessing education/training degrees, diplomas, and/or certificates, leading to long-term attachment to the labor market and self-sufficiency.  This full-time position is located at the DHHS Administrative Offices in Concord, NH.  Bachelor’s degree with major study in social work, psychology, education, human services, sociology, counseling, behavioral science or a related field with one year of experience as an Employment Counselor Specialist Trainee or three years in social work, counseling, education, staff training, employee development, or human resources, or three years as a Family Service Specialist at any level. Experience may be substituted for education as appropriate.  Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of one year of experience and knowledge of teaching methods and subject material relating to programs of education at all school levels; knowledge of educational standards and adult learner assessment methods (e.g. TABE, CASAS); familiarity with the education/training needs and barriers faced by low income adult learners including identification and accommodations for learning difficulties; familiarity with vocational education facilities, 2- and 4-year post-secondary institutions, and proprietary training organizations in the State; familiarity with common Financial Aid available products and programs to minimize student debt to the greatest extent possible.
