Program Coordinator

UNH Cooperative Extension

Position Description: The part-time Youth CAN Program Coordinator will provide administrative and logistical support to the coalition, to include coordinating events; representing Youth CAN at community and school events; helping coordinate youth activities; communicating through multiple channels to educate and build momentum around Youth CAN activities and initiatives; and keeping coalition data collection up to date. The ideal Program Coordinator will have administrative and organizational skills, proven experience working with youth, exceptional communication skills, a collaborative team approach, flexibility in working hours (periodic evening and weekend events required), and a strong background in managing work plan activities, writing reports, data entry/computer skills, and prioritization of activities across multiple projects. This position is temporary, dependent upon grant funding.

  • Bachelor's Degree in public health or community development-related field preferred; at least 2 years’ experience working in a community setting, with demonstrated experience working with youth.
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Drive and general computer skills
  • Familiarity with Claremont and Newport area preferred.

Amount of Travel Expected:

Program Coordinator should have their own transportation and expect significant local travel (within 20 miles of office). All travel related expenses will be reimbursed by the coalition, according to federal travel guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
70% of this position is completed while sitting.
30% of this position is completed while walking, crouching or kneeling.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
The work environment is the UNH Cooperative Extension office or remote work available.


Criminal Background Check/Protection of Minors:

The University of New Hampshire is committed to providing a safe environment for all persons, including but not limited to children, and to prevent and respond to abuse, neglect and crimes against children. All UNH youth program staff shall be subject to a criminal background check as required by NH State Law. Staff and volunteers will also be required to complete periodic child safety training.

  1. Provide logistical and follow up support for coalition meetings and take minutes as needed.
  2. Assist coalition with event planning activities.
  3. Assist coalition in marketing, social media and outreach.
  4. Provide coalition project or program support, especially with youth engagement efforts.
  5. Compile coalition activity data and ensure it is entered into proper data management systems.

Provide general administrative support like maintaining contact lists, filing coalition records, and other duties as assigned.

$17.00 to $20.00 per hour commensurate with experience
