Human Resource Coordinator

NH Audubon

Mission: To protect New Hampshire’s natural environment for wildlife and for people.

New Hampshire Audubon (NH Audubon) is one of the oldest conservation nonprofit organizations in New Hampshire, and one of the original independent Audubon’s in the country.  At over 100 years old, NH Audubon was established before National Audubon Society and remains fully independent and entirely disconnected from that organization.  As such, NH Audubon’s focus is entirely on the protection of New Hampshire’s wildlife and habitats.

Three to five years human resources experience including benefits, compliance issues, and employee relations required; demonstrated ability to make independent and coordinated decisions.  Must have excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively within a diverse community.  Experience with spreadsheet, word processing and database software programs required.  Previous experience working with volunteers in a non-profit setting preferred; strong managerial and leadership skills required. Experience working with PayChex and other Payroll and HR systems required.  


Requires exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills including attention to detail, superior problem solving skills, ability to communicate with the general public and a high degree of organization.  Must be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment, requiring ability to multi-task; demonstrated excellent customer service skills, ability to work independently, with professional and courteous manner. To perform the essential functions of the position, the following applies: requires standing, stretching, bending, walking, lifting and transporting a minimum of 25 pounds.  Must be able to climb stairs as well as be physically and mentally capable of performing multiple tasks under extended heavy pressure and be able to function in a fast paced environment. 


Manage day to day human resource function. Perform edits to employee data, offer guidance to employees with regard to benefits, job tasks and employment resolutions. Maintain compliance documents for state and federal governments. Interface with our benefits organizations. Perform background checks on new hires, volunteers and recertify existing employees as necessary.
