About Us: We are the Non-profit Community Mental Health Care Provider for Sullivan County and Lower Grafton County for the State of New Hampshire. Since 1977. our team of grass-roots locally focused professionals has been ensuring access to advanced counseling, treatment, support, and emergency services for people of all ages-- regardless of their ability to pay. Our mission is to promote the quality of life of individuals, families and commnitues by providing treatment services for mental illness and substance use disorders while reducing the stigma associated with these challenging conditions.Our vision is a time when behavioral health services are fully available as needed and the stigma of mental illness and substance use disorders are eliminated.  


West Central Behavioral Health is seeking a Full-Time Human Resources (HR) Generalist.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing all HR-related duties on a professional level and will work closely with Director of Human Resources.  This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas:  recruitment, staffing, benefits administration, FMLA/leave administration, orientation/onboarding, training, performance management, employee retention and recognition.

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree with Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources (Preferred)
  • HRCI PHR or SHRM-CP Certification (Desired)


  • Minimum of 2 years' Experience in Human Resources

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of Federal and State Laws Governing the Work Place
  • Knowledge of Health Insurance Plans and FMLA Administration
  • Excellent Organizational and Communications Skills
  • Must be Flexible and Demonstrate the Ability to Work with Minimal Supervision
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Excellent Computer Skills and Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to Learn Necessary Computer and Technical Skills Essential to the Position and Agency Needs

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience in community mental health environment preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with payroll software, desired

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to access all Agency sites
  • Ability to lift, push and/or pull 20 lbs


  • Responds to benefit inquiries from employees on plan provisions and benefits.
  • Clarifies, interprets, and responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs for employees.
  • Reviews, approves, and tracks all FMLA and Non-FMLA claims according to policy and law.
  • Facilitates Workers’ Compensation claims according to law and policy.
  • Conducts new hire orientation and ensures a smooth transition from recruiting team to training.
  • Recruits for assigned positions, conducts phone screen and background checks.
