Community Action Partnership of Strafford County is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. We work with community, state and federal partners to assist children, families, low-income and elderly residents with their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent through a variety of coordinated programs. Without the services provided by our agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs, including food, education, child care, utilities assistance, transportation, shelter and access to other services.

General Description:

Provide a daily schedule of developmentally appropriate activities school age children. The School Age Childcare Teacher is responsible for the overall classroom management and health and safety of children in a childcare setting.

Requirements:

Education and or Experience:

· Per NH Child Care Licensing requirements, must be at least 21 years of age

· High School Diploma with one of the following:

·Minimum of 1,000 documented hours experience working with children in a licensed child care program OR

· College courses totaling 18 credits in early childhood education, including three credits in human growth and development.

· Interest and desire to interact and work with young children and adults.

· Prior experience working with school age children preferred and the commitment to continue training.

· Comfortable with use of computer programs including Microsoft Office.

· Current or able to obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.

· Able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Responsibilities:

· Greet parents at arrival and departure times.

· Supervise and ensure the safety of all children in your classroom at all times.

· Supervise school age room volunteers and aides.

· Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate activity based curriculum for the school age children.

· Provide an atmosphere which encourages the children to participate and become self-reliant and creative.

· Provide an environment that is organized, clean,safe, stimulating, and child centered.

· Maintain regular contact with the Center Director, meeting at least weekly to provide an update on program issues and activities.

· Keep accurate staff sign in sheets for the school age room.

· Maintain accurate children’s attendance sheets and meal count sheets. Turn completed sheets into the Center office at the end of each week.

· Keep parents up to date on all program schedules and events. Prepare and distribute a monthly newsletter. Maintain a parent information board with posted daily schedule and weekly menu.

· Work cooperatively with the program staff as part of the Farmington Children’s Center Team.

· Keep classroom first aid kit filled with all necessary supplies.

· Remain current with the NH State Licensing Manual, following all licensing rules and requirements.

· Coordinate program field trips with Center Director.

· Maintain inventory of classroom supplies

· Participate in Center Open Houses and fund raising activities.

· Implement monthly emergency practice drills.

· Attend monthly Building Meetings and in-service training's.

· Help to orient and train volunteers.

· Maintain confidentiality.

· Report any problems to the Center Director.

· Maintain and model good hygiene, appropriate dress(neat, clean and modest), and professional behavior to parents, staff and the community.

· Maintain a positive and productive attitude regarding the Center and the CAP Agency when interacting both within the program and with the greater community.
