ES Clinician

Clinician – Emergency Services

Riverbend Community Mental Health, Inc., one of the largest providers of community-based mental health services in New Hampshire, is seeking a Masters level Clinician to provide consultative, acute psychiatric care management and coordination for patients of Concord Hospital’s Emergency Department (CHED) and on medical floors. This is a per diem position with various scheduling options available.  

As a Clinician, your patients will typically have been previously evaluated and determined in need of admission to inpatient psychiatric services and are awaiting bed availability.  This is an entry-level management position.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate the requisite skills and temperament to work in a fast-paced and demanding emergency oriented clinical environment, have excellent organizational abilities, written and expressive communication skills, be flexible and adaptive to the changing needs of the clinical situation.  He or she must be able to participate confidently in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings situated throughout the system of care. 

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related discipline is required.
  • Licensure (or eligibility) is preferred/
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a mental health treatment environment is preferred.
  • Some flexibility in scheduling is required.
  • Familiarity with State of NH involuntary emergency admission (IEA) and conditional discharge revocation (CDR) processes is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the range of alternative available treatment resources available in the state of NH that may be required for the successful referral, treatment and disposition for patients who present with the full range of behavioral issues indicating psychiatric crisis and emergency is preferred.
  • Provide leadership of psychiatric morning rounds in the CHED
  • Engage in management of psychiatric service provision in the CHED in partnership with psychiatry
  • Work closely with Nursing and Medical staff to maintain communication and safety of psychiatric patients and staff in the CHED
  • Maintain professional relationships with outside sources around information gathering and patient placement
  • Maintain legal documentation for patients in the CHED on the medical floors as needed
  • Provide Clinical leadership and quality assurance to Riverbed Emergency Services Clinicians who provide coverage of the Care Management role. 
  • Provide direct care including assessment and crisis stabilization when needed
  • Maintain high quality records and documentation
