Assistant Development Director

Boys & Girls Club of Manchester

The Boys & Girls Club of Manchester is a 100+ year old private non-profit organization with our mission being to reach out to all young people ages 6-18 years, with special concern given to kids who needs us most, providing programs and services that enable our members to become productive, responsible and caring individuals. We currently offer programs at 3 sites during the school year and a Day Camp program during the out of school summer months. We have an annual membership of between 1500 and 2000 boys and girls with an average daily attendance of approximately 450 members during the school year and 350 campers during the Summer Day Camp Program. We offer a wide variety of programs in five core areas with a special focus on academic achievement, healthy lifestyles and character & leadership development.

Assist in managing data, donor correspondence, and reporting relating to fundraising and donor management activities. Cultivate support for the Club and assist in generating sponsors and participants  for all Club events, including but not limited to: Discovery Hours, Foundation of Friends Breakfast, Golf Tournament, Speaker Series and other special events.


• Strong written and verbal communications skills required.
• Must be organized and have a strong attention to detail.
• Able to create and follow communication, reporting and gift processing timelines.
• High School diploma or equivalent required and bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related discipline preferred and 1-3 years’ experience in non-profit fundraising and reporting or related experience. Experience may be substituted for a lesser educational degree.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Robust knowledge with donor management or related software and associated reporting.
• Solid analytical and data mining skills.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and be trustworthy.
• Demonstrated experience in fundraising and the ability to cultivate fundraising events to meet goals.
• Ability to pass background screening including: criminal background screening.

• Responsible for assisting the Director of Development with data management, gift processing, billing, report generation, acknowledgement letters, data analysis, bulk mailings, credit card processing, communication etc. Must use available technology (Raiser’s Edge) to its maximum capacity to ensure the efficient and effective use of time in building reports, and donor follow-through ensuring all information is handled with meticulous attention to detail, privacy and accuracy
• Support in the authentic acknowledgement of all gifts received by the Club within a timely fashion (48 hours).
• Oversee the creation of written correspondence to constituents, including but not limited to: quarterly acknowledgement letters, monthly emails, donor specific newsletters, end of year solicitation, event requests, update letters, and any future capital campaign communication. Develop segmented donor communication.
• Manage the cultivation of Club stories from members and staff which can be shared with current and future donors.
• Assist  Director of Development with monthly balancing and gift reclassification.
• Work with the Director of Development to provide reports and data as needed in a timely fashion to CEO, COO and for any marketing and public relations efforts.
• Participate in any and all special events as needed, with a focus on cultivating relationships with the Chamber of Commerce, Manchester’s Young Professional Networks, as well as other special citywide initiatives.
• Communicate with all members of the resource development and marketing staff, Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, staff peers, and volunteers. 
• Maintain a good line of communication with all members of the resource development and marketing staff, chief executive officer, board of directors, staff peers and volunteers. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.
