Field Coordinator

Grafton County Senior Citizens Council

The mission of GCSCC is to develop, strengthen, and provide programs and services that support the health, dignity, and independence of older adults and adults with disabilities living in our communities.   


FLSA: Non-Exempt

At the direction of the RSVP Director, the RSVP Field Coordinator for Sullivan County will be responsible for recruiting, enrolling, screening, orienting, supervising, supporting, recognizing and retaining RSVP volunteers aged 55+, in keeping with our grant commitments, guidelines, and regulations. The Coordinator will work cooperatively with RSVP colleagues and community stakeholders to accomplish the over-all program goals and objectives. 

Works in the community and from home an average of 10 hours per week / 20 hours per two-week payroll period.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and abilities required through a combination of education and / or experience. Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field; or experience in human services and / or volunteerism; or experience in business customer service and public relations.
Experience in working with those aged 55+ desirable.

Transportation Reliable transportation required to access programs and volunteers in rural locations throughout the Sullivan County area, as well as attend meetings and training in Grafton County and occasionally regionally.

Licensure Valid driver's license required for those providing their own transportation.

Communication/Language Skills (English)
Oral communication skills with both individuals and groups, including public speaking.
Excellent written skills for writing letters, emails, reports, etc.
Ability to train senior volunteers in small to medium sized groups, and one-on-one.

Mathamatical Skills
Able to work according to a small budget.
Prepare accurate documentation including staff mileage and time sheets.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to work without a supervisor directly on site.
Necessary judgment and problem solving skills.
Ability to prioritize projects / tasks.
Ability to arrange and carry out own schedule in a productive manner.
Comprehend, prepare, and present reports.
Ability to research community resources on the internet is a plus.
Flexibility to adjust to varied and changing priorities.
Good organizational skills (time management, projects, meetings, etc.)

Social Skills
Sufficient to develop and maintain positive, respectful and effective working relationships with RSVP / GCSCC colleagues, volunteers, RSVP Advisory Council, community partners, the media, and other stakeholders.
Ability to carry out both one-to-one, and group interactions.
Ability and comfort level to request cash, and in-kind donations.
Understanding of and ability to provide internal and external effective customer service.

Computer Skills
Computer literacy – hardware and software, including Email, and the Internet a plus.

Physical Demands
Communicate with individuals and groups in private as well as public settings.
Travel throughout the Sullivan County service area for recruiting, placing, training, and supporting volunteers as well as travelling to Grafton County for staff meetings and training.

Work Environment
Ability to work from home or library, and in community settings.
The individual will be expected to work autonomously without a supervisor on-site.
Work as part of a professional team.
Work and travel in local, rural Sullivan County communities, with occasional travel to Grafton County for meetings and training; with occasional conferences in regional locales.
Ability to manage a flexible schedule, and manage multiple and changing priorities.

Responsibilities:

Function / Responsibilities: (Illustrative Only): Under the direction of the Project Director, the Coordinator’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Coordinator Responsibilities: (Illustrative Only):
• Manage and support RSVP volunteers: recruit, screen, and orient RSVP volunteers with a focus on people aged 55+ in keeping with our current grant commitments. 
• Assure success of grant-funded activities, including but not limited to: RSVP Bone Builders, Chore Corps, Good Morning, Disaster Preparedness.  Develop and maintain effective, regular on-going contact in person and by phone with RSVP volunteers; RSVP Bone Builders classes and host sites, (including updating Memoranda of Understanding;) plus prospective sites, supporters, etc.
• Public speaking to groups for the purpose of volunteer recruitment and client outreach.
• Participate in periodic staff, and advisory committee meetings for the purpose of training, supervision and program planning.
• Help with the RSVP’s fundraising projects, and special events.
• Take advantage of paid, local and regional training opportunities.
• Perform other project related duties as requested by the Project Director.

Clerical Responsibilities
• Managing own communications via phone, email, mail, etc.
• Maintaining accurate RSVP volunteer, Bone Builder site records, etc.
• Writing own correspondence, meeting agendas and minutes, reports, etc.

Salary Range:
