Granite State Independent Living (GSIL) is a statewide nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote quality of life with independence for people with disabilities and seniors.  As the state’s only Independent Living Center, we pride ourselves in being innovative leaders with the highest standards. Through multiple programs we deliver services that allow people to navigate their lives and live as independently as they choose.


We are in search of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to promote, uphold and advocate for our Mission, our funding and lead us into our envisioned future. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO is responsible for financial matters to ensure accountability and compliance as well as, participate in the efforts to meet the organization’s strategic goals. The CFO will direct and oversee the finance department and in addition, will monitor and advise on all financial matters, make recommendations and suggest pro-active strategies to keep GSIL on track.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement specific goals, objectives, and department activities in support of the organization’s strategic plan.
• Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets. Oversee the preparation of all financial reporting.
• Advise on long-term business and financial planning.
• Analyze GSIL’s financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
• Provide strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs.
• Develop and coordinate all relationships with lending/financial institutions.
• Develop and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting. Ensuring that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Manage cash flow and monitor on a daily basis.
• Oversee the grant management process tracking expenses vs. grant budgets, prepare and submit monthly/quarterly invoices to grantors, and track payments received per grant. Ensure compliance with all appropriate governmental grant regulations.
• Ensure that accounts receivable collections are monitored, by reviewing all month-end account receivable reports, and determine process for collecting from delinquent accounts.
• Manage and monitor all investments and cash flow according to established guidelines.
• Maintain schedules of all fixed assets and all restricted funds requested and received as well as generate monthly depreciation expense entries, reconciled to the general ledger.
• Perform month-end closing procedures and produce monthly financial statements. After review with CEO, prepare and distribute financials to senior management and Fiscal Committee. Prepare bi-monthly Fiscal and Board financials for presentation to Board of Directors and Fiscal Committee.
• Manage annual audit preparation and execution.
• Manage annual operating and capital budget process.
• Review and update departmental policies & procedures and communicate them effectively.
• Ensure that GSIL capital equipment is labeled and documented including location. Serve as the Project Lead in the annual physical inventory count and reconciliation.

Qualifications:

• MBA required, CPA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years’ in progressively responsible financial and executive management leadership roles required, preferably in the non-profit healthcare setting.
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
• Ability to engage with staff at all levels of the organization and exercise sound judgement.
• Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Attention to detail a must.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Abila MIP software a plus.
• Knowledge of, and experience with, a variety of private payors, including Medicaid.
