Granite State Independent Living (GSIL) is a statewide nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote quality of life with independence for people with disabilities and seniors.  As the state’s only Independent Living Center, we pride ourselves in being innovative leaders with the highest standards. Granite State Independent Living promotes quality of life with independence for people with disabilities and those experiencing the natural process of aging through advocacy, information, education, support and transition services.

Through multiple programs we deliver services that allow people to navigate their lives and live as independently as they choose.


Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Concord, NH

We are in search of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to promote, uphold and advocate for our Mission, our funding and lead us into our envisioned future. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO oversees the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization.  The CEO provides management over the agency to achieve goals and objectives, to provide organizational structure that achieves business growth and motivates staff to accomplish the mission of GSIL.  In addition, the CEO is responsible for the effective advancement and communication of the mission and vision of the organization. 

Requirements:
  • Ten years progressive senior management experience in non-profit human services or government sector.
  • Minimum of a Masters Degree in government, business, law, human services or related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial statements and experience with budgets and financial forecasting
  • Significant knowledge of federal and state disability programs and services and principles of independent living.
  • Personal experience with disability desirable.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty safely and satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Provide innovative, collaborative leadership and direction for the implementation of GSIL’s philosophy, vision, mission and strategic goals by setting clear objectives and operational strategies.
  • Oversee the coordination of the implementation of the strategic planning process and development of new initiatives.
  • Provide direction and guidance to the COO on overall management of the organization.

Communication:

  • Deliver a consistent, clear and understandable message that communicates the organization’s philosophy, vision, mission, programs and services to relevant stakeholders, consumers, staff and general public.
  • Support the Board of Directors by providing information to facilitate decision making and fulfill fiduciary responsibilities, including participation in Board meetings, annual meeting and committee structure.
  • Meet regularly with Executive Leadership Team to ensure clear and open communication regarding the operations of the organization.

Finance and Budget:

  • Ensure the organization’s strong financial performance by overseeing and participating in the development of new revenue sources including fundraising and facilitating senior staff’s ability to secure such revenue and funds.
  • Examine monthly financial statements to ascertain that GSIL is prudently managing its resources within budget guidelines and in compliance with applicable regulations. Adjust asset and resource allocation in consultation with the Board of Directors in accordance with current market conditions to carry out organizations core mission. 
  • Approve and recommend yearly budget to the Board for final approval.

Public Relations:

  • Direct the development and implementation of GSIL’s government relations strategy.
  • Cultivate local and state legislative partnerships and alliances to ensure GSIL’s representation on commissions, task forces and committees, and publicly advocate for the concerns of persons with disabilities.  Build partnerships and establish relationships with funders, and political and community leaders.
