IT Software Specialist

Purpose/General Responsibilities: Responsible for providing support for applications and software.

Specific (Essential) Responsibilities:

• Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve software support tickets submitted through the Help Desk system.
• Gain a solid understanding of software and some hardware used and supported.
• Provide routine application monitoring and maintenance.
• Monitor assigned software applications, document and analyze problems.
• Teach End User training classes on software packages.
• Maintain system documentation.
• Provide advice and training to end-users as required.
• Understand and support all system interfaces for assigned applications.
• Enable best practices and implement where appropriate.
• Collaborate with server administrators and database administrators to ensure proper integration of the environment.
• Work closely with business and vendor to tune and troubleshoot applications.
• Provide technical support for all corporate systems and software components as assigned.
• Participates in efforts to develop and implement process improvements and automation for application and system monitoring.
• Participates in efforts to implement application updates to include upgrades, patches, and new releases.
• Travel as needed to our multiple in-state office locations.
• Liaise with vendor support.

Other Responsibilities:

• Participate in general GSIL events and activities.
• Maintain professional knowledge /skills by reviewing professional literature and attending trainings /workshops.
• Support and uphold workplace policy procedures, regulations and safety practices.
• Share newsworthy information appropriately throughout the organization.
• Conduct other duties as assigned.


• 1-3 years applicable experience in production application support.
• Proficiency with SharePoint, Doc Star/Eclipse, Abila MIP, Office 365 and all Office products.

Physical/Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to sit, use a computer, a telephone, and other office equipment and to move throughout the building and attend outside meetings. Employee may occasionally need to exert up to 30 pounds of force to lift carry, push or otherwise move objects (e.g. files or presentation materials). This position requires the ability to express or exchange ideas and to comprehend and present detailed and critical information including but not limited to financial information. Exceptional judgment and creativity are regularly required to evaluate results and make decisions.
