Teacher Assistant

The Part-Time Teacher’s Assistant is responsible for working collaboratively with the Teacher in creating a supportive and enriching learning environment for preschool children. Under the supervision of the Teacher, the Part-Time Teaching Assistant will model the appropriate interventions and interactions with children, work collaboratively with all other SCS staff and when appropriate and time permitting, participate in all required meetings and trainings. The Part-Time Teacher’s Assistant will assist in the implementation of an individualized approach when supervising and guiding behaviors of child/children using the CSEFEL Framework and strategies. The Part-Time Teacher’s Assistant shares in the responsibility for the overall care of the classroom and its contents. The teacher assistant will be familiar with the Performance Standards, NAEYC requirements and updating the classroom portfolio.


1. Minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or be enrolled in a program that will lead to an Associate’s or Baccalaureate Degree
2. Classroom experience with pre-school children (Head Start experience preferred)
3. Certification in child first aid and CPR (program will provide upon hire)
4. Ability to manage time and work flexible hours
5. Creativity, flexibility, and a positive attitude working with children and families
6. An understanding of how to work with low income families
7. Willingness to pursue professional development opportunities
8. Ability to work collaboratively with others who support the child/children
9. Ability to lift 35 pounds
