Keene Family YMCA receives $10,000 grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation

Keene – The Keene Family YMCA is pleased to announce it has been awarded $10,000 from the Henry L. and Patricia J. Nielsen Fund, one of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundations advised funds. The grant will subsidize child care at the Y for low income families.

The grant will help further the Y’s mission of ensuring that the youngest members of the Monadnock Region have access to the Y’s high-quality child care and preschool program. This access allows parents and caregivers in the community the ability to work, attend school, and be secure in the knowledge that their children are being well cared for.

Kelly Fleuette, Director of Child Care Services at Keene Family YMCA, states:

“This grant will allow us to provide preschool support for up to 30 families. We are so grateful for this funding so we can continue our mission of providing child care for all.”

The Keene Family YMCA raises money each year to help support low-income families needing licensed child care and preschool at the Y’s two programs on Summit Road and Maple Avenue in Keene. More than half of the children in these programs receive financial assistance. Last year the Y raised $42,000 to help children attend child care and preschool from its Annual Campaign.

Hélène Mogridge, CEO at Keene Family YMCA, states:

“We are most grateful for the NHCF grant. At the Y, we are very committed to helping our lowest-income families have access to high quality child care programing. Every single child deserves to be safe, loved, and nourished, physically, mentally and emotionally. This would not be possible without the generosity of the Nielsen Fund.”
