Balancing Mission Impact With the Bottom Line

Staying nimble in program/service delivery while constantly understanding your bottom line – and its capacity to stretch – is part art and part science.

Doesn’t it seem like just when you think you have figured out the absolute best strategy for financing the work of your nonprofit, something changes or bottoms out?

Nonprofit sustainability isn’t a sprint to the finish line where you can say, “These will forever be our programs, and we’ll always break even.” Too many factors and too many pressures—both external and internal—will change both the effectiveness and the financial viability of those programs over time.

Respected author and speaker, Steve Zimmerman brings the art and science of sustainability together masterfully in an exploration of tried and true ways to re-think and assess your fiscal position and determine your options and priorities for the future.

  • Understanding the concepts of sustainability and ongoing strategic decision making
  • Creating a visual depiction of your business model which integrates mission impact and financial viability
  • Identifying strategic imperatives to strengthen your organization’s business model.

Walk away from the session with tools you can use to energize your board and staff in the pursuit of sustainability.
