About the Organization
The Society of St Vincent de Paul Exeter, NH Food Pantry and Cleo Castonguay Community Assitance Center was established in October of 1989 with the mission to provide emergancy food and assitance to those in need when all other resources have been exhusted. We serve the needs of our neighbors struggling in Exeter, Newfields , Stratham, Kensington, Brentwood and East Kingston.
About the Job
Position purpose:
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing the volunteer program. The goal is to ensure that
the organization is always staffed with the best and most reliable individuals, and that they are correctly
utilized for the fulfilment of SVdP Exeter.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Recruit, engage, and train volunteers to be successful in their positions
• Review volunteer applications, and determine acceptance or non-acceptance
• Orient new volunteers to increase their understanding of the organization, its clients, its services
• Ensure that volunteers work in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment
• Prepare schedules and assignments for volunteers in advance of their shifts
• Communicate with volunteers before, during and after their experiences
• Oversee and monitor volunteer database and record maintenance: application forms, hours
• logs/records, and any other documents
• Assist in planning and implementing formal and informal volunteer recognition activities
• Develop job descriptions for various volunteer positions
• Update and administer all Volunteer Handbook Policies
• Participate, planning and organizing trainings & specials events concerning volunteer staff, including site selection, logistical arrangements, purchasing supplies, promoting events, scheduling and being the primary point of contact for the event.
• Matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensuring they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training.
• Conduct ongoing evaluation of the volunteer engagement strategy and recommend and implement improvements as identified and/or necessary. Periodic evaluation of volunteers.
• Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities. Create and distribute Volunteer Newsletter.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred
• Experience managing volunteers or in a customer service role

• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

• Excellent computer skills, especially using database programs, Excel, Word, and email
Hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:30 am - 1:00 pm
