Community Action Partnership of Strafford County is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit organization established in 1965 under the provisions of the Equal Opportunity Act of 1964. We work with community, state and federal partners to assist children, families, low-income and elderly residents with their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent through a variety of coordinated programs. Without the services provided by our agency, many local residents would be without a means to provide for their basic needs, including food, education, child care, utilities assistance, transportation, shelter and access to other services.

About the Job
Job Title: Staff Accountant
Program/Dept: Finance Department
Reports To: Finance Director
FLSA Status: Regular/Full-time/Non-Exempt
Probationary Period: Ninety (90) days
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday
Work from Home Status: Eligible
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under minimal direction, performs complex professional accounting duties; and related duties as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance or a high school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years significant experience in accounting, reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
- Experience with federal/state grants or fund accounting is preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP
- Proficient in computers and relevant software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Blackbaud and pivot tables a plus).
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Weekly and monthly bank and other account reconciliations
- Prepare monthly invoices for a variety of programs and review with program staff
- Participates in the daily processing activity in an extent sufficient to provide and maintain the separation of duties for financial control as it is designed for the Fiscal staff operation.
- Prepares for review: financial statements, balance sheets, income and expense reports, and cash flow analyses; for enterprise funds, internal service funds, or major programs.
- Month end close activities
- Serves as backup for Accounts Receivable and Payroll
- Assists with pulling of documentation and preparing schedules for annual audit
- Assist with gathering documentation for program monitoring
- Other duties as assigned.
