Description

The New Hampshire Women’s Foundation seeks a thoughtful, analytical, self-motivated, problem-solver to join our team as our next Research Fellow. The Research Fellowship is a two-year full-time position (37.5 hours per week). This position collects, analyzes, and presents data for the Foundation’s flagship research publications, quarterly issue reports, and supports other team projects including policy efforts, grantmaking, and events. 

This is an ideal position for recent graduate students and individuals with research training interested in using data to further gender equity in New Hampshire. Reporting to the Director of Policy, this is a full-time salaried position with benefits. NHWF works a hybrid schedule with a combination of telecommuting and in-person work at our office in Concord. 

Position Overview 

The Research Fellow is responsible for conducting data-driven research for the Foundation’s quarterly Gender Matters issue briefs and biennial Status of Women and Status of Girls reports, as well as providing research for other team project initiatives as needed. 

Working closely with the Director of Policy, the Research Fellow areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Collect, compile, and analyze data using federal and state level sources 
  • Conduct extensive research on topic issues and research projects
  • Generate initial visual representations of data for further publication design
  • Support the drafting, editing, and publication of materials 
  • Present project findings to diverse communities and other stakeholders
  • Provide research support for other team member projects
  • Report to and work closely with the Director of Policy on other work related to the research, policy, and advocacy programs including tracking legislation, preparing testimony, and quantifying women’s elective representation at the state and local level. 
  • Assist with other activities that support the Women’s Foundation, as needed. The Women’s Foundation holds occasional events in the evenings and/or weekends. 

Candidates may possess some of the following qualifications and skills:

  • Master’s or PhD degree, or enrolled in a degree program, in Public Policy, Women and Gender Studies, Public Health, Social Work, Sociology, Education or related field. Candidates with a relevant bachelor’s degree and related research experience will be considered. 
  • Experience in research, data analysis, or presenting data.
  • Quantitative research skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets; familiarity with STATA or other quantitative analysis software a bonus.
  • Experience or interest in analysis of intersectional impact on issues of economic security, health, education, safety, etc. 
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high research standards.
  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Passion and commitment to gender equity.
  • Desire to explore new and innovative ways of incorporating data and research into other areas of the Women’s Foundation’s work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members.

Salary & Benefits: 

The fellowship includes an annual salary of $40,000 plus benefits including health and dental.
