Summary of Position

Reporting to the Director of Development this key position is responsible for managing a leadership giving portfolio of 50 – 75 prospects and growing a dynamic annual fund program that sustains and increases general operating support and unrestricted revenue to advance the KSC mission.



The successful candidate will be highly organized, and deadline driven, have proven written and oral communication skills, strong follow-through, self-motivation, and ability to create and execute detailed timelines, initiative, be able to build trust-based donor relationships, work collaboratively and strategically with colleagues, and possess a strong knowledge of the principles, ethics and practices of successful fund raising.

Other minimum qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree



A minimum of three-to-five years of experience managing a portfolio and securing four- and five-figure gifts through one-to-one cultivation and solicitation.



A demonstrated understanding of philanthropy (mission, practice, trends) and fundraising practices (the development cycle, prospect, and volunteer management policies and practices) with success in inspiring donors to make annual gifts.



Experience creating and executing comprehensive annual giving campaigns that incorporate direct mail, email, and digital annual giving channels.



Proven project management skills.

Demonstrated high standards of professionalism and performance as evidenced by collaborative teamwork, initiative, critical thinking, good judgment, consistency of output, and timeliness of follow-through.



Proven organizational skills, including the ability to set clear priorities and manage time well.



The ability to work independently and make sound judgments without close day-to-day supervision.



Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.



Demonstrated experience with MS Office systems, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook.



Experience with fundraising and data management systems; Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge highly desirable.



Experience leading events and programs such as athletic challenge events and other fundraising programs.



Comfortable working with people of diverse generations, backgrounds, and experiences.



The ability and willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed, and actively lead fundraising events.

Duty/Responsibility

Direct Mail, Email and Digital Efforts




Partner with external vendor and the Advancement Services team on the creation and launch of comprehensive annual giving campaigns and strategies, with primary responsibility for direct mail, email, and digital annual giving channels.



Assume primary responsibility for management of GiveCampus crowdfunding platform, including working with campus partners to determine goals, messaging, audience, and timeline.



Program GiveCampus platform for each campaign.



Produce metrics and systems to monitor outcomes across all areas of annual giving programming with a particular focus on fundraising goals, new donor goals, donor retention goals and alumni giving.



Monitor the Annual Giving budget throughout the year to ensure cost centers and spending are on track.

Portfolio Management

Actively manage and develop a prospect pool of 50 – 75 leadership annual giving prospects, with the goal of securing increased funding from private philanthropic sources. Raise a minimum of five times annual salary.



Attain an annual visit goal and achieve annual personal and team revenue goals. Travel 20 – 40% of the time to cultivate, solicit and steward donors.

Fundraising Event Management

Lead annual fundraising events as opportunities arise, in collaboration with campus partners, Advancement, and Alumni Relations.

Create and execute detailed timeline and ensure all assignments are met. Hold committee members accountable to assignments.



Work closely with marketing to produce all promotional and printed materials.



Manage committee volunteers and event day volunteers’ roles and assignments.



Reach (or surpass) annual fundraising net and gross goals through 3, 4, and 5-figure sponsorships.

Department Strategic Planning

Partner with Advancement leadership to build a strategic annual giving program that grows the donor base for Keene State College, with an emphasis on alumni participation.



Partner with colleagues in Advancement and with cross-campus partners to maximize contributions and ensure clear communication in the cultivation and solicitation process.



Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Keene State College’s strategic priorities, comprehensive campaign priorities and goals.



Articulate Keene State College’s mission and vision and skillfully connect donor interests with funding opportunities.
