About the Job

Description

  Lead Transition Specialist 

Responsibilities:

•    Serves as lead instructor of the day-to-day academic activities

•    Oversees the development of the new ELOs (extended learning opportunities) to respond to identified student needs

•    Directs staff in recruitment, intake, and progression through the program experience and back to school and other appropriate service

•    Works with Program Administrators and stakeholders (Regional Advisory Group) to continually review and evaluate all aspects of the program – assess process effectiveness and full academic rigor

•    Responsible for establishing and maintaining student expectations

•    Provide support to work site activities as needed

•    Completes all the necessary program reports with high quality and in a timely manner



Skills/Abilities:

•    Ability to convey a variety of diverse thoughts and ideas to learners of varying academic levels and learning     styles

•    Ability to work in dynamic and high stress environment with flexibility and focus

•    Comfort and ability in quick and rapid decision making

•    Ability to manage multiple priorities

•    Ability to see the best in all students and assist each in “creating themselves”

•    Knowledge of career development assessment software and processes

•    Knowledge and/or personal or professional experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred

•    Comfort with 1:1 instruction as well as group presentations

•    Demonstrated collaborative skills

•    Knowledge and/or personal or professional experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred

•    Knowledge of special education law, accommodations and modifications as related to IEPs and 504s preferred

•    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

•    Google Suite including Google Classroom; Docs; Sheets; Slides; Forms, and Gmail

•    Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various templates

•    Working with Database programs

Other Responsibilities:

•    Participate in general GSIL events and activities.

•    Maintain professional knowledge /skills by reviewing professional literature and attending trainings /workshops.

•    Support and uphold workplace regulations and safety practices.

•    Share newsworthy information appropriately throughout the organization.

•    Conduct other duties as assigned that will increase options for persons with disabilities to live independently in their communities.



Qualifications:

•    College graduate preferred

•    Teaching/instruction experience

•    Experience working with adolescents, at-risk youth, or high school students with disabilities

•    Ability to drive a 13-passenger vehicle.

Salary: $40,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
