We work with community, state and federal partners to assist children, families, low-income and elderly residents with their efforts to become or remain financially and socially independent through a variety of coordinated programs. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Family Services Director oversees the administration and implementation of family support programs, including CFSS and HFA home visiting services, the Statewide Diaper Program, and Family Resource Center(s). This role ensures full compliance with all State and Federal regulations, while developing and maintaining systems and procedures that support consistent program quality and adherence to mandated standards.

The Director must demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills and be capable of building and sustaining effective working relationships with staff, children, families, and community partners.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Human Services, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of professional leadership, management, and supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of family and social services theories, practices, and program delivery.
  • Experience managing state and federal contracts, including budget development and compliance.
  • Proven ability to write effective proposals and secure funding.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable funding mandates, laws, and regulations, while upholding high-quality standards across all family service programs.
  • Oversee adherence to the State of New Hampshire’s Home Visiting program requirements and other relevant guidelines.
  • Review monthly financial and statistical reports to monitor budget performance and take proactive measures to address any emerging issues.
  • Prepare grant applications and annual budgets; identify and research new funding opportunities in collaboration with the Chief Program Officer (CPO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
  • Complete and submit the required monthly reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide ongoing mentoring, coaching, and performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Support and promote continuous professional development for all team members.
  • Effectively manage conflict resolution and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Promote integration and coordination among all family services programs and with broader organizational initiatives.
  • Maintain effective communication and positive working relationships with funding agencies.
  • Foster collaboration with community organizations and stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver presentations as needed to internal and external audiences.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and information-sharing opportunities, including travel as required.
  • Attend assigned community, state, regional, and national meetings and conferences.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and address complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Contribute to team-based planning, problem-solving, and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to ensure program success and organizational mission alignment.

  • Demonstrated administrative capabilities, including goal setting, staff coordination, planning, and evaluation.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to the challenges faced by families living in poverty.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and ability to connect families with appropriate supports.
  • Reliable transportation with a minimum of 100/300 liability insurance coverage.
  • Physical ability to perform routine job duties, including walking, sitting, lifting (up to 50lbs), and traveling between work sites.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate clearly with diverse audiences, including staff, volunteers, and families.
  • Skilled in interpreting and conveying both verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of delivering effective presentations and training to groups of diverse sizes.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Home Visiting Programs, Family Resource Center, Statewide Diaper Program Oversees the Home Visiting Programs, Family Resource Center(s), and the Statewide Diaper Program, including direct supervision of program managers.

EMPLOYMENT SCREENING

  • Valid driver’s license and an insured vehicle with minimum coverage of 100/300, or an acceptable alternative transportation arrangement.
  • Successful completion of a driving record check, criminal background check, and participation in randomized drug screening as required.

Head Start, Early Head Start, Childcare, and Home Visiting Programs are also subject to the following: Head Start, and childcare licensing requires a criminal record check and finger printing to be completed prior to employment. An initial physical examination record, including a TB screening must be obtained within 60 days of hire, updated every three years, and kept on file with Human Resources. If a TB screening indicates elevated risk, results of a TB test must be kept on file including any treatment received. An initial driving record check will be conducted. License information will also be submitted to the agency’s automobile insurance carrier.
