About the Organization
The Foundation for Seacoast Health was established in 1984 as a private foundation from private endowments and the proceeds from the sale of Portsmouth Hospital to Hospital Corporation of America. From inception, its purpose has been to promote and support health care in the Seacoast Region; this includes providing oversight of Portsmouth Regional Hospital. The endowment supports the operation and maintenance of the Community Campus and provides grants to organizations as well as scholarships to students. Its efforts are focused to benefit the residents of the towns of Portsmouth, Rye, New Castle, Greenland, Newington, and North Hampton, New Hampshire; and Kittery, Eliot, and York, Maine.

Foundation Overview
The Foundation for Seacoast Health (FFSH) was established in 1983 following the sale of Portsmouth Hospital to Hospital Corporation of America. FFSH has invested more than $75 million in the communities it serves. In addition to grants and scholarships, the Foundation managed and maintained a multi-tenant nonprofit center called the Community Campus. In 2022, the Foundation sold the Campus to the City of Portsmouth to return to its core mission of “improving the health and well-being of all residents in our service area through grantmaking.” The Foundation manages $35M in assets and an annual operating budget of $1.4M.
The Opportunity
As FFSH enters its next phase of growth as a dynamic grantmaker, the Foundation seeks an Executive Director who will assume a trusted leadership role throughout the region and state, engaging and partnering with businesses, foundations, local and state officials, other nonprofits, and supporters to improve health outcomes for residents in the Seacoast Region.
The Position
FFSH is seeking a compelling leader to achieve scale and impact in our grantmaking who will be a magnetic convener of diverse stakeholders and has a proven track record of (i) building sustainable partnerships, (ii) executing plans that achieve demonstrable results, and (iii) leveraging resources. Location/Salary/Benefits – This is an exempt, hybrid position, averaging 32 hours a week, requiring frequent travel to Portsmouth, NH. The salary range is $110,000 to $130,000, commensurate with experience.
