Description

Voices Against Violence is seeking an exceptional leader to become its next Executive Director. Voices Against Violence is an active and valued member of Southern Grafton County in Central New Hampshire serving victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, bullying, stalking, and human trafficking through free and confidential support. Voices also operates a confidential shelter for victims and families and a 24-hour confidential hotline. The organization serves as a catalyst for cultural change, working towards the goal of elimination of domestic and sexual violence through direct service, education, outreach, and victim advocacy. Located in Plymouth, New Hampshire, and serving 21 towns throughout the Central NH region, the organization has a dedicated staff and a close partnership with the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. 
Voices is seeking an individual with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, ideally in non-profits or social services, to champion its mission, guide a dedicated team, manage fiscal responsibilities, and cultivate community ties. Proficiency in grant writing and management, as well as donor relations, is essential. The ideal candidate will serve as the organization's public representative, showcasing strong skills in public speaking and communication. This pivotal role reports directly to the Board of Directors. 
JOB TITLE: Executive Director 
ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION: To break the cycle of violence by providing comprehensive services for all victims and survivors and by creating social change through education and action. 
GENERAL SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director leads the agency's comprehensive efforts, including administration, program management, financial and grant management, strategic planning, fundraising, and community outreach. Furthermore, the Executive Director is responsible for implementing and administering the agency’s mission, vision, and values while ensuring compliance with necessary regulations and requirements. With accountability for optimizing agency performance, the Executive Director supervises the agency's day-to-day operations. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Administrative Management

1.    Oversee, evaluate, and enhance the agency’s operational systems and administrative support for its programs.
2.    Serve as an ex officio member of the Board of Directors, ensuring they are well-informed to make sound decisions and establish effective policies.
3.    Develop specific policies, procedures, and programs for daily administration, guided by the overarching policies set by the Board.
4.    Ensure adherence to agency policies and procedures, overseeing compliance with the Coalition’s standards.
5.    Promote nonprofit management best practices at all agency levels.

Financial Management

1.    Create and update annual budgets and recommend yearly budgets to the Board of Directors for approval.
2.    Monitor monthly financial performance through grant management and reporting.
3.    Direct business management and financial reporting operations, including general accounting, yearly financial audit, internal review, and 501(c)(3) compliance.
4.    Prudently manage agency resources within established budget guidelines.
5.    Identify insurance needs, negotiate, and manage insurance policies in coordination with the Board.

Program Management

1.    Prepares short and long range plans to address needs of victims of domestic violence.
2.    Establish program goals for the agency and conduct an annual evaluation of goal achievement.

3.    Promote the agency's philosophy, mission, and values internally and to the public, potential clients, and collaborating service providers.
4.    Maintain effective and ongoing communication with the Board of Directors, including assisting with board development and training, attending board meetings, reporting to the board, and serving as a liaison between staff and the board.
5.    Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of service programs.
6.    Initiate and oversee meaningful service collaborations with local nonprofit and governmental organizations.
7.    Ensure that staff members have the resources to support best practices within each program area.
8.    Oversee all aspects of facilities management.
9.    Supervise technology operations and information systems for the agency.

Community and Public Relations

1.    Lead external relations of the agency with the public, private, and philanthropic sectors, as well as with community organizations, social service agencies, and agency vendors.
2.    Collaborate with colleagues from other agencies within NHCADSV and attend meetings as necessary, including monthly PMC meetings.
3.    Actively participate in community activities and education, as well as events sponsored by domestic violence and social service agencies, serving as a resource for referral sources.
4.    Develop the Annual Report.
5.    Act as the primary public spokesperson for Voices Against Violence and demonstrate expert knowledge regarding domestic violence and related issues in various public forums.
6.    Conduct systems coordination and advocacy among relevant community, statewide, and national partners.

Development

1.    Work with the Board to develop and implement the Voices Against Violence annual fundraising plan.
2.    Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
3.    Identify resource gaps needed to fulfill the agency’s mission.
4.    Plan, implement, and evaluate all fundraising activities of the agency.
5.    Conduct comprehensive research on funding opportunities and submit grant proposals.
6.    Manage grant compliance.

Human Resources

1. Effectively manage the agency according to authorized personnel policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.

2.    Recruit, hire, supervise, and support staff, including assessing and addressing staff concerns.
3.    Conduct regular meetings with the staff to enhance collaboration and supervision.
4.    Conduct and document annual performance evaluations for agency staff, establish performance goals and criteria for staff, and implement appropriate action to achieve these goals.
5.    Provide relevant professional development opportunities for staff.
6.    Oversee the continuous evaluation and improvement of staffing structure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 


EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. 


EXPERIENCE:  Five years of experience in a social service or nonprofit agency. 30 hours of training in accordance with NH RSA 173-C. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and vehicle insurance coverage. 
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time, bend, twist, stoop, or kneel. Exhibit manual and finger dexterity for such things as using a keyboard.  Vision and hearing correctable in order to complete job responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES 

•    Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
•    Experience in public speaking.
•    Experience with grant writing and management.
•    Demonstrated skills related to management, planning, budgeting, marketing, and community relations.
•    Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, donor database, and accounting software.
•    Ability to manage conflict resolution effectively.
•    Ability to operate with minimal supervision, with initiative and discretion.
•    Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
•    Understanding of issues related to domestic and sexual violence and stalking.
•    Strong orientation in nonprofit accounting principles.
•    Practical knowledge of employment law at the state and federal levels.
•    Basic understanding of computer networking.
