Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Director of Development and Marketing (D&M) to join our team. This role will be responsible for creating and executing marketing efforts, fundraising campaigns, grant writing, communications strategies, and donor engagement initiatives. The Director of D&M will play a crucial role in increasing our organization's visibility, expanding our donor base, and securing financial support to advance our mission. The Director of D&M will be supervised by the Executive Director and will work closely with the administrative and programmatic teams.

Duties Will Include

Development and Fundraising:

  • Plan, organize, and execute fundraising campaigns and events to generate a diverse portfolio of financial support.
  • Develop and implement a corporate sponsorship program.
  • Develop and maintain a donor database.
  • Develop and maintain annual fundraising and stewardship events.
  • Serve as a key point of contact with current & prospective donors through letters, personal visits, phone calls, and personalized acknowledgements to achieve continued donor engagement.
  • Implement strategies to engage and retain existing donors while attracting new supporters.
  • Create and manage donor communication plans, including regular updates, acknowledgments, and public recognition.
  • Forecast annual and quarterly contributed revenue, as well as donor renewal and acquisition.
  • Develop working relationships with each Board member and support them in their active fundraising role. Participate regularly in board meetings.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of WMSI programs and activities and help donors accomplish their philanthropic goals through a relationship with WMSI.

Grants:

  • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Prepare grant proposals, applications, and reports, ensuring compliance with grantor requirements.

Marketing:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans to promote WMSI and its programs, regularly utilizing tools such as:
    • Email
    • Social media
    • Physical mailers
    • Direct inquiries with potential clients
  • Secure new clients through regular marketing efforts to schools and organizations.
  • Develop and implement data-driven methods to monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing efforts, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Supervise, support and regularly evaluate the performance of the Marketing Coordinator and the Graphic Design Staff.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary degree in relevant field or related work experience. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools and platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

  • Routine office environment.
  • Able to lift/maneuver up to 20 pounds on occasion; and at varying heights.
  • Some nights and weekend work required.
  • Must have own transportation, a valid driver’s license, and adequate insurance.

Position Details

  • Full time exempt position.
  • Benefits include health insurance, 401K retirement plan with up to 3% salary match, vacation, holidays, sick time, and professional development stipend.
  • Fully on-site position with the option for some remote work, depending on weekly meeting schedules and organizational needs.

Compensation

  • Competitive salary commensurate with level of directly relevant experience, with a starting range of $47,000 - $55,000.
