Founded in 1884, Webster House is a children’s home located in Manchester, NH, whose mission is to provide children between the ages 8 and 18 who are unable to live at home with a safe, supportive environment for an undetermined amount of time. The intent is to address four areas of the youth's life – physical, social, personal and family.
The goal is to prepare residents for adult life, in collaboration with the family, the child, and the program. Webster House provides a home and the opportunities for counseling and education. Webster House also provides the atmosphere in which adult-child relationships can be rebuilt and created. Our goal is to prepare residents for success within and outside of our program in collaboration with the family, the program, and the youth. Webster House provides a safe and supportive home environment with opportunities for counseling and independent living preparation. Webster House also provides an atmosphere in which adult-child relationships can be rebuilt and created through connection activities. Within this structure, the direction, kindness, and commitment of caring adults can help improve the lives of the children who reside at the Webster House and their families.
Position Purpose: The Development Manager at Webster House Children’s Home leads all fundraising and donor engagement efforts to support the organization's mission of providing a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for youth in crisis. As one of New Hampshire’s oldest and most respected residential homes for youth, Webster House serves as a vital part of the child welfare ecosystem, providing both structure and care to help children build resilience and success in their lives. This individual is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive development strategy that includes annual giving, major gifts, special events and donor stewardship. The Development Manager plays a central role in sharing the impact of Webster House’s work with the broader community and deepening relationships with donors who help fund essential services such as housing, education, therapy, and life-skills development.
This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and works closely with board members, community stakeholders, and staff to build and sustain the relationships and funding pipelines that secure the future of Webster House.
Essential Functions:
1. Develop and implement an annual development plan that supports strategic organizational goals.
2. Oversee all donor relations, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals and corporations.
3. Plan and execute special events, including Webster House’s signature fundraising events such as the Night of Giving.
4. Maintain accurate donor and gift records using donor management software (CRM).
5. Prepare timely donor acknowledgment letters and ensure a high level of customer service.
6. Generate reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders to monitor fundraising performance.
7. Manage communications related to fundraising, including newsletters, Impact/Annual Reports, email campaigns, and social media. This requires working with PIVOT, our Marketing Company.
8. Represent Webster House at community events and networking opportunities.
9. Support the CEO and Board of Directors in their fundraising roles, including staffing development committees.
10. Help translate visibility and marketing efforts into donor action and revenue.

Supervisory Responsibilities: May supervise development interns, volunteers, or part-time staff.
Work Environment: Office environment with occasional evening and weekend work required for events or donor meetings.
Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs for event setup.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full-time. Standard business hours with flexibility for special events and deadlines.
Travel: Local travel required. Occasional statewide or regional travel may be needed.
Required Education and/or Experience:
● Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in communications, nonprofit management, or related field.
● Minimum of 3 years of experience in development or fundraising, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
● 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and responsibility.
● Proficiency with donor databases (e.g., Little Green Light, Bloomerang, or similar). Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
● High integrity and discretion with confidential information.
● Knowledge of Manchester and the broader New Hampshire philanthropic landscape is highly valued, given the role’s emphasis on local donor engagement and community partnerships.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Passion for serving children and families in crisis and for helping vulnerable youth succeed.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Due to the nature of our business, some positions may require U.S. Citizenship. A background check and fingerprinting are required per state contract requirements due to the nature of the work environment.

Pay: Salary $65,000–$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience
