Peterborough Players is a New Hampshire cultural treasure; a fully professional Equity theatre in an unexpected setting -- a historic barn, three miles outside of downtown Peterborough. Founded in 1933, the theatre offers a traditional summer season June - August and a three-play winter season, augmented in the fall and spring by opera and theatre on screen including The Met: Live in HD opera series. For nine decades the Players has produced professional theatre at a level of quality that has gained it a significant national reputation.

About the Job
Director of Development
The Peterborough Players seeks a talented and strategic full-time Director of Development who
is knowledgeable about the Monadnock region or adept at learning a new location’s fundraising
landscape. The Director of Development is a member of a small but mighty administrative team
that works together collaboratively while respecting each other’s expertise and domain. In-
person work is essential, since knowing the community and our donors is key to success.
However, there is a possibility of some remote work as well. We are willing to work with you to
frame the job that matches your talents and interests with our needs, especially if you also have
some background in marketing. Health insurance provided. Salary $55,000.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet annual revenue
goals - Cultivate relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors to
secure financial support - Conduct research to identify potential funding sources and grant opportunities
- Write compelling grant proposals and submit timely applications
- Initiate and implement a planned giving strategy
- Collaborate with marketing to initiate and implement a membership program
- Plan and organize fundraising events, including galas, benefit concerts, and donor
cultivation events - Manage major donors, including stewardship and solicitation efforts
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling fundraising materials,
including brochures, appeals, and sponsorship packages - Build and maintain a strong network of community partners, including businesses and
civic organizations, and key individuals to support organizational goals - With the rest of the artistic and administrative team, ensure that the Players is
accessible and welcoming to all in our community - Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of fundraising strategies
- Maintain accurate record of donor interactions and contributions
- Collaborate with the artistic and administrative team in developing annual budgets
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as arts administration, nonprofit
management, or business) - Proven experience in fundraising and development including major donors, grant-
writing, corporate relationships, annual appeals, planned giving, and membership
campaigns - Strong knowledge of fundraising techniques, donor cultivation, and grant writing
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build
relationships with diverse stakeholders - Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented mindset
- Proficiency in financial management and budgeting
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong writing and speaking skills
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Ability to work effectively with a corps of volunteers
- Knowledge and passion for the performing arts industry and its role in the community
- Ability to collaborate with others productively
