Founded in 1884, Webster House is a children’s home located in Manchester, NH, whose mission is to provide children between the ages 8 and 18 who are unable to live at home with a safe, supportive environment for an undetermined amount of time. The intent is to address four areas of the youth's life – physical, social, personal and family.
The goal is to prepare residents for adult life, in collaboration with the family, the child, and the program. Webster House provides a home and the opportunities for counseling and education. Webster House also provides the atmosphere in which adult-child relationships can be rebuilt and created. About the Job
Position Title: Development Coordinator & Grant Writer
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Department: Development
Status: Non-Exempt
Position Purpose:
The Development Coordinator & Grant Writer will play a crucial role in advancing the Webster House Children's Home mission by securing funding through grants, enhancing donor engagement, and supporting key fundraising events. This position (32 hours per week) combines grant writing expertise with development responsibilities, helping to establish and maintain systems for sustainable growth.
Essential Functions:
1.Research grant opportunities that align with Webster House's mission and funding needs.
2.Write clear, concise, and compelling proposals, including letters of interest, cover letters, and supporting documents.
3.Collaborate with the CEO and Finance Director to develop accurate budgets and gather necessary data for proposals.
4.Maintain an organized tracking system for grant applications, reporting requirements, and deadlines.
5.Cultivate relationships with current and prospective foundation funders to secure ongoing support.
6.Configure and optimize the donor management platform to improve tracking and engagement.
7.Develop and implement a donor stewardship plan, including personalized acknowledgments and updates that support and enhance our mission.
8.Assist in the creation of a comprehensive fundraising roadmap to achieve revenue goals.
9.Plan and execute fundraising events, such as the Annual Night of Giving, NH Gives, and other revenue-generating opportunities.
10.Secure sponsorships, donations, and auction items to support event success.
11.Collaborate with the marketing team to fulfill sponsor deliverables and enhance event visibility.
12.Prepare reports for grants, donors, and event outcomes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
13.Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for fundraising efforts to identify areas of improvement.
Competencies:
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
- Effective interpersonal skills for donor and partner engagement.
- Proficiency with donor management platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but requires collaboration across teams and external partners to achieve objectives.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience in grant writing and/or development.
- Proven track record of securing grants and supporting successful fundraising initiatives.
Travel
Minimal travel is expected for this position, limited to local event support and meetings.
Equipment/Software:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency in donor management software (Bonterra, Network for Good, or Greater Giving preferred).
Physical Demands:
- The physical demands of this position are primarily sedentary but may include occasional lifting of files and equipment, reaching, or standing as needed.
Work Environment:
This role operates in a professional office environment and may occasionally require telecommuting. Standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and filing systems, is used regularly.
Work Authorization
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Employment is contingent upon the completion of background check, which includes fingerprinting, and passing a drug test satisfactory to Webster House and execution of Webster House’s Conflict of Interest disclosure.
Compensation:
$35.00 per hour for 32 hours per week.
100% employer-paid health insurance, effective after six months of satisfactory employment with Webster House.
