About the Organization

Brigid’s House of Hope is a long term, transitional safe house for victims of Human Trafficking in New Hampshire and surrounding areas.  Human trafficking is a social issue that is affecting all communities in many ways and Brigid’s House of Hope supports identified victims of trafficking and assist in transitioning victims to survivors to thoughtful community members.  Working with members of the community, Brigid’s House of Hope will provide the only housing specifically designed to support victims and survivors of trafficking in New Hampshire.  

Brigid’s House of Hope provides a state-wide accessible shelter for those who have been exploited through trafficking.  Along with shelter, they will also provide access to medical care and mental health services, support, and ultimately transition individuals into long term housing and assist survivors of this crime as they reintegrate into a safe community. An obligation exists to protect the person and equip the person with the skills and resources necessary to prevent re-exploitation.

Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Will provide both direct case management services to the program residents and participants, as well as perform program support.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Program Director, within established policies and procedures set by the Executive Director and Board of Directors, the Case Manager performs the following functions:

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

1. Provide intake and case management services for residential program participants and non-residential survivors of human trafficking;

2. Conduct needs assessment and make appropriate referrals;

3. Provide crisis stabilization services and safety planning as needed;

4. Advocate with other agencies, landlords, and housing providers on behalf of program participants;

5. Monitor on-going client needs during their stay in the program and implement post program follow up for emergency shelter, transitional housing, and Rapid Rehousing programs;

6. Complete assessments, intakes, and exits– managing related documentation with accuracy and timeliness;

7. Attend Anti-Trafficking and Residential department meetings;

8. Able to effectively de-escalate program participants and mediate potential conflicts;

9. Assist House Monitors in responding to difficult situations;

10. Attend relevant professional development trainings as needed

11. Maintain positive working relationships with community collaborative service agencies;

12. Participate in and ongoing fundraising activities;

13. Maintain a working knowledge of emerging issues relevant to the field of Human Trafficking.

14. Stay up to date on recommended and proposed developments updating current information provided and programming used (preferred evidence based programs) through research and attending trainings and seminars.

15. Regular attendance is required.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

1. Participate at National, state and local meetings as appropriate.

2. Perform other similar or related duties as required or directed.

7. Responds appropriately to a program participant in crisis. Uses a variety of methods to offer short term, immediate help to individuals who have experienced an event that produces distress,

8. Knowledge of human services and social work practices.

9. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with department staff, victims of trafficking, and community agencies.

10. Strong organizational skills.

11. Requires skill in developing formats and procedures for special applications or in investigating and reviewing the use of equipment and data for a specialized function.

12. Supports and promotes an environment that supports and provides opportunities for all, regardless of race, religion, nationality, culture, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, weight, health status, age or other diversity factors.

13. Requires responsibility for achieving direct service objectives by assessing department service needs and making preliminary recommendations for the development of alternative short-term program policies or procedures. Errors at this level result in incomplete assessments or misleading recommendations causing a disruption of department programs or policies.

14. Requires performing regular job functions in a controlled environment with minimal exposure to disagreeable job elements and little risk of hazard to physical or mental health.

15. Requires light work, including continuous walking or operating simple equipment for extended periods of time as well as occasional strenuous activities such as reaching or bending.

16. Requires coordinating a combination of diverse job functions in order to integrate professional and technical department goals; these duties require considerable judgment to implement a sequence of operations.

17. Requires objective assessment in analyzing and developing new work methods and procedures subject to periodic review and in making decisions according to established technical, professional or administrative standards.

18. Ability to use a computer for word processing and data management.

19. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.

WORK SCHEDULE: Generally Monday through Friday Occasional weekend/evenings required

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience, from a recognized college or University with major course work in human services, social work, criminal justice, psychology or related field.

EXPERIENCE: Three years of related experience working in social services or human services with experience in staff supervision, program development or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required of position
